Low Quartet Dividend Payout Enquiry

This article was in Sportingpost this week

Saftote have confirmed that they will be looking into a ‘strange’ Kenilworth dividend from Saturday afternoon’s meeting.
The Sporting Post was contacted by punters after a surprise result to the sixth race delivered a seemingly low quartet dividend, which also appeared out of sync with the trifecta dividend.

With the top swinger paying R53 and the trifecta delivering R3598, it was odd to see the quartet pay ‘just’ R5801-90, particularly with the unfancied Magical Bet, running into fourth.

‘They have left a zero off the end of the payout amount’, suggested one punter.

Phumelela’s Sports Betting Executive Vee Moodley confirmed shortly after our enquiry that the matter will be looked into.

This was the reply as per the Editor

Phumelela’s GM Sports Betting responded:
Nothing wrong with the dividend. There were a few winners from Netherlands and awaiting feedback on tickets.

Are we not still awaiting an adequate reply to the '3 million rand place pool saga' from a few years ago?

Don't forget though,

CO-MINGLING IS GREAT FOR SA PUNTERS!!!

Does nobody else find it strange that:
a)we have so many strange anomolies with our co-mingled pools/dividends and
b)everytime the explanation is some some overseas punter, got really lucky..............or knows more about our racing than we do!
We just shake our heads and move on-we really are a naive bunch!

No, what I find more strange is that we complain about everything that's worth complaining about and we still don't get heard. We either poor at complaining or the powers that be have deaf ears.

The most interesting dividends are the horses,at prices as high as 5/1 or 6/1, that pay R1 a place.
I think we can safely assume that manipulation is not the reason as nobody is likely to risk that, just to get their money back!!!!!!!
There is only one other explanation, and that is that the take out on co-mingled pools is increased to pay rebates/commissions,and therefore the net pools ,already battling to provide value, are further reduced and cannot sustain the small margins of place betting!
(Note:It adversely affects all pools but is not as obvious as in place betting)
I always thought that tote take outs were regulated so it would be interesting to know whether any increase has been sanctioned!
All previous requests for disclosure have fallen on deaf ears!

Guys

on this topic I completely believe the operator. I seldom play SA tote on Betfair but when i do i'm effectively taking 20x tickets to you guys.

and the bottom line is i know for fact i have affected dividends on a few occasions. and on some could have really affected them but the results never went "my way"

You see I'm a field player, always have been and always will be. Been told many times i am a very dangerous punter (for open bet) because I am the guy that Bankers a 20/1 in a quartet for 1st with field field field 5x Of course this does not always pay off but when it does we'll what can one say.

I OLNY ever take 3 leg Jackpots. So even if Frankel in in the last leg of the Pot running against lebeona ILL put field.

And therefore when i take a jackpot on betfair

2 x 4 x 6 x 12 (field) £1104 then if I'm in FOR sure the dividends are stuffed….

Easy, how many times have you loaded a local horse for places, purely for the fun of seeing if you can get your stake back?

KENILWORTH - Race 6
Pos. Selection Odds T/Win T/Place
1
10. Jeremy
40/1
28.9
7.1
2
6. Chrome Blue
12/1
-
3.1
3
7. Red Peril
20/1
-
6.3
4
12. Magical Bet
20/1
-
-
Swinger : 6 x 10
33.2
Swinger : 7 x 10
53
Swinger : 6 x 7
20
Exacta : 10 x 6
267.1
Trifecta : 10 x 6 x 7
3598
Quartet : 10 x 6 x 7 x 12
5801.9

So you got a 40/1 winner - 12/1 second - 20/1 for 3rd & 4th....look at the place dividends and now they say nothing wrong with the quartet payout?!? I seen it pay way more with more fancied horses filling up the first four!
Boggles the mind
