How many races must a horse be allowed to run before being ineligible to run.....Game Plan in the 1st at the Vaal yesterday from Maree stable has run 49 times for zero places.....is this a record....

How can a trainer allow this to the owner, or has the owner got so much money that he don't care.

I would like to support this thread.

I absolutely do not support restrictions like those supported by Eudey for example, but it is high time that the performances of some horses might indicate that they are done.

It is an embarrassment to all concerned, and after a while it is impossible to deny that it has crossed over to cruelty.

How this has evaded discussion, and worse, evaded those whose job it is to manage this type of thing in now inexcusable.

Without stepping of on the rights of people to partake in any sport the way they think fit, the stewards of the sport should propose reasonable rules that we can all agree on which basically agrees on when enough is enough.

What can we do to motivate this?

It must be more cruel to run winners than it is to run losers. Losers, like Game Plan are slackened off at the end of a race.

To be fair, Gold Onyx beat Balance Sheet, Puntas Arenas and Night Shadow in his last three runs and 7 runs ago was 2nd in Gr2 earning R80,000.
