Has to be very doubtful, especially when the gold cup will be raced over the chewed up ground

Following further 100mm of overnight rain, total of 300mm in last 3 days and a waterlogged track, todays GREY racemeeting has been abandoned.

Re: Greyville Poly Wednesday
8 years 10 months agooh really craig gold circle says the track is waterlogged and makes no mention of the pull up area...whether the grass pull up area had 200 or 300mm of rain it was always going to be fcuked so it leads me to believe that the polytrack cant handle as much water as possible or maybe the drainage on the polytrack just like the grass track is buggered...its a cracking day here today and in theory the track should be oerfect by midday..how long will owners put up with all this bullshitCraig Eudey wrote: Not the poly they worried about Pirates. The 195mls on the grass pull up area and the storms this pm. Poly will be fine.

Pirates do you think I sit here and thumb suck what I write? Maybe you spend your nights and days looking for ways to run down anything to with KZN racing and Gold Circle but I just report what I have seen myself and know from info that I am given by people I trust. I know Corrine would not be happy with her horses pulling up on the turf today after the race on a pen reading of 60( pen reading on pull up area this morning)? Would you?

Just been sent 2 interesting facts. 8,4 million Litres of water fell on the poly over the last 2 days and 15,6 million litres on the grass track. I bit of water to drain off is it not? :S

Craig ,I have to ask you about your comment "Corrine not being happy about her horses pulling up on turf today, after the race,on a pen reading of 60)" but does that not contradict your post that stated..."there is space for normal pull up" (26/7 @17:27)-Which one is correct? Is the normal pull up area poly or does it have a pen reading of 60?
Your defence of Gold Circle is noble but contradictions harm it's credibility .........please explain EXACTLY what the true situation is and why the meeting is abandoned!
(While you about it ,can you explain how twice as much water FELL on the turf than on the poly ..........is the Turf in a heavier rainfall area?)

Rob f, if they cannot pull up in time. Normal area poly then onto grass. Grass pen 60. Area of grass is bigger than poly.

It appears that some people think that punting is more important than the well being of the horse. Any doubt that the horse and or rider are taking a risk by racing then call it off. What's more important? Money or a horse or rider that are safe back at the stables.

Just spoken to one of the trainers that said there were corrugations in the poly from all the rain so besides the water drainage i don't think poly was an option today before some repairs and maintenance was carried out.
Don't be surprised to see the three Grade 1's run on turf on Sunday and the rest of the meeting on poly or postponed.

That doesn't surprise me .....nor the abandonment,TBH
Why not just be very honest about the information though?
Gold Circle sets itself up for attack as nobody believes a word they say anymore!

Totally agree with you Rob and I do not understand at all why they behave in a clandestine, ostrich with head in ground manner.
Have experts out on the track doing interviews discussing the steps that need to be taken, post it on the web, be interactive and open. But hey what do i know. ARe there any experts at GC?
