I have done a bit of homework on turf tracks in sub-tropical climates around the world over the past few months. (From my computor
) So for what its worth/farting into a tornado....??
These tracks seem to be made up of between 4 to 8 different types of grass. Greyville only 2.
The reason for the different types of grass gives you a better cover all year round.
Different grasses, different root systems, different foliage, different growth rates at different times of the year.
The only grass type Greyville has in common is kikuyu.
Here lies the problem : When the kikuyu is gone/removed by racing there is no cover and sand can be seen. The natural grass isnt "thick/strong" enough to form a cover on its own.
Logically, well for me anyway, would be to experiment with different grass types in different areas on the track where it can grow/mat and over time one can then determine the best combinations. These areas would have to raced/galloped on to see how it holds up with racing/weather/fertilizers/cutting/etc
The same can be done at Scottsville.
To me this would be pro-active in finding a solution that suits each race course and what works for both. It wont be a overnight solution but Im sure we could live with it if we all knew something is being done to solve the problem.

Anyway Pirates and Tigershark as the experts they believe they are can now give you their info and opinions. They obviously know more than me so carry on. They are wrong but tired of listening to people who are biased to the extreme and believing people that do not have a clue about the track. Good bye. Sorry Bob but having to listen to this selective shit the straw has just broken the camels back.
Don't know what took you so long!
