DURBANVILLE, 14/09

R4, I fancy the chances of Ovar (3/1). A look at the betting, and on paper Ovar should have the beating of second favourite, Olympian (4/1), if taking the run of the 05/07 into account. Based on that same race, Ovar should have the beating of Al Wahed (4/1).
Ovar does appear to have a lot going for him, a first and a second course and distance, well drawn and racing fit. I make him the one they all have to beat.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Bayern, lol, could well win but again with one of your posts I have to put a warning up, sorry, only trying to hopefully help
I don't know if you checked the replay of that race but I am sure Olympian gets cramped against the rail pretty badly and rallies well. I repeat I am not saying Ovar won't win, I've not even looked at the race, just saw your post and thought I had best mention it.

It's good we have different views. Just think Ovar is better weighted than when he beat Olympian and Al Wahed. The pace will be on, just hoping Ovar can hang on the the coat-tails of the speedsters from draw 1, if he can do that, he'll win.
Nice call at the Vaal last week regards the draws.

Race 1: Seems the weaker of the two maiden fillies' races. Prudence Prevails should be thereabouts. Miss Hyde and Rustar Dhow have fair form. Pint Pont improved dramatically last time and is a narrow selection. An upset quite possible as any of those with one run under the belt could improve.
Race 2: We have Silver Laurel running- she has come to hand and is a big runner if not finding this course and trip too sharp. Fort Ruby is the one to beat, and On that Note has fair form. We also have Sylvanite in this race. She is a nice filly, and was running on in her debut in a strong field, and we expect significant improvement. Katie du Bois is another to include in quartets.
Race 3: We have Mighty Hash running, and he should run a place here. Over Drive should win this- his debut was very good behind a top sort.State Ballet and Mamselle Al are good enough to be involved in the finish, but have tough draws. Purple Rock and Star of Joseph are others for the quartets.

Race4: Competitive race, and the pace should be on. I like Al Wahed to beat Ovar and Olympian.
Race 5: A very tricky race. Annelline looks very useful and is first choice. Lucky Tuesday won well in what was reported to be her last start before going to stud, and could score again, but there is no value in her price. Chisanyama has run well at this course, and could be a value ew bet despite the wide draw.
Race 6: Treize is a narrow selection to beat Eleadora and Northern Ballet. Hilaria could surprise on her best form.
Race 7: some useful 3yos line up. My narrow preference is for Black Parrot, but there is some sentiment in my choice as I bred him. Cardiff Castle, Captain Blackbeard and Carbon Offset are all capable of winning. Pop the Question should prefer this trip, and Raheeb should show plenty improvement.

Really don't like the card from a punting perspective so will avoid for the most part and just have a few loose change nutter bets for interest with very restricted (if any lol) belief.
As I promised, Bayern I really think pretty much any of the field could win R4, Ovar as good as any imo. If forced I would go with Captain Sam from Olympian but unlikely I'll bet and will hope for Ovar
(No offence to anyone else or those with runners!)
R1 Miss Hyde would probably be my selection but the jockeys switching between that one and Snaith's other runner Konkola bothers me plenty (though Win Form has Cheyne riding Miss Hyde in her penultimate?).
Nutters...
R1 So Enchanting
R2 Stunning Seed
R3 Finn's Rebel
R5 Elusive Empress (but will have a couple of rand on Fairy Maker)
Be(s)t of luck to all

gone with Konkola, Fourie outstanding rider and the horse has had his visit to a racecourse and now his 2nd run out of the Snaith stable must have a big chance
