A feast of top-quality entertainment is on the cards for the “Pink” Night Race Meeting at Greyville Racecourse on Friday, October 28, catering for the whole family with a special programme of fun for the children.

That’s right, October is breast cancer awareness month and the TGiF night meeting will go pink as Gold Circle and PinkDrive join together to raise much needed funds for the cause.

But as Gold Circle’s Marketing Executive Graeme Hawkins says, “while raising money for worthy causes is serious business, there is absolutely no reason not to have some fun at the same time” and a programme of special entertainment has been arranged to support the exciting eight races carded for the evening.

Part of having fun is enjoying a good evening meal with friends and there are facilities at Greyville to suit the appetites and pockets of everyone from a stylish full buffet and carvery, including wine, in the Classic Room to the relaxed family facility in the Braai Zone. In between there is the popular Durban View Restaurant which provides the best seats in the house where you will receive a complimentary drink on arrival.

For the Classic Room limited 10-seater tables are available at R4 000 a table and can be booked through Precious on 031 3141640 while Gail, on 031 3141780 will take bookings for the Durban View Restaurant at R195 per person if paid for at the meeting or R180 per person if paid for in advance.

In the Lightning Shot Bar the live band Too Close will be playing and Happy Hour will operate from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

For the kids aged from three to 11, professional supervision and a full programme of entertainment and activities is planned in the KidZone with an entrance fee of R15.

It will all be happening at Greyville so dress up in pink – you could win one of the many spot prizes – and join in the fun.

But if you can’t make the date, you could make a donation to this worthy cause by SMSing “Racing” to 40158 to automatically donate R20 to PinkDrive.

Last year Gold Circle were in trouble for all the jockeys donning pink silks. Will they still don pink silks this year?
