Stipes demoted

I am reading this on Sporting Post and thinking some of the hard done by punters do have a point. In the situation where an obvious error was made surely an apology at the very least is in order from the NHA?

OTA, I have to agree but I would add the owners as well. Dont hold your breath though.

Very difficult to understand demotions when the rules are so vague.... "if or but for the interference"... if it was our esteemed president he would actually have a case for once... every week there are objections either overruled or successful but I challenge anyone to lay 10 of these together and show the consistent application of the rules. The rules are the problem not the enforcers... Refining the rules is a must... the objection rule reminds me of the LBW rule in cricket before technology refined that.. It amazes me that a "sport" that is based solely on wagering does not have hard and fast rules... Racing is a business and the rules should be written in accordance... no grey areas .... I'm approaching 40 years of race-watching and I am not confident that I could predict the outcome of most objections... It is difficult enough to back a winner... why should that "gamble" stretch to the outcome of an objection?

I see the BHA are looking for racecourse stewards

as in gate guards

Yes Craig. There are a few that hold outside jobs and come to race days as STIPES.
Just wondering if GC did ask them to declare if they held other jobs!

Are you sure RP? A stipe is a full time job. Which ones have outside jobs? I know the starting stalls guys do but not the stipes as far as I know.
