BERESFORD STAKES winner Capri is one of six Aidan O'Brien-trained horses still in the mix for Saturday's Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster.
The Ballydoyle maestro, who has taken the Group 1 prize with stars such as Camelot and St Nicholas Abbey in the past decade, is aiming for an eighth win in the race.
Saturday's Racing Post Trophy takes on extra significance for O'Brien as he is bidding to beat Bobby Frankel's record of 25 top-level victories in a calendar year. O'Brien is on 21 Group/Grade 1 Flat winners so far during 2016.
O'Brien on Sunday suggested that his Racing Post Trophy team was likely to include Capri, Yucatan and Finn McCool.
He has also left in Douglas Macarthur, Sir John Lavery and The Anvil.
Contenders
A total of 17 horses remain in contention following Monday's five-day confirmation stage.
Godolphin, who on Saturday wrapped up the owners' championship, have just one possible runner in the shape of Charlie Appleby's Bay Of Poets, while Qatar Racing, who won with Elm Park two years ago, could be represented by the Ger Lyons-trained Brutal.
David Elsworth's Frankel colt Swiss Storm, who created such a good impression when winning at Newbury, is an absentee but the trainer could rely on Sir Dancealot, who won the Listed Rockingham Stakes over 6f at York last time.
The Mark Johnston-trained Frankuus, another son of Frankel, might have earned a step up in class having won a Group 3 at Chantilly.
"After he won in France last week we were thinking of going to the Gran Criterion de Saint-Cloud," said the trainer's son Charlie. "He stays well and he came out of that race fine and we'll have a look at Saturday's entries and make a decision as to whether he runs later in the week."
Betting
Capri has been installed as the 11-10 favourite by Paddy Power to rack up a four-timer, while stablemate Yucatan, who chased him home in the Beresford, is next in the market at 9-2.
The greatest threat to O'Brien could come courtesy of the William Haggas-trained Rivet, who was a slightly disappointing fifth in the Dewhurst last time but is a 6-1 chance to bounce back to winning ways.

O'Brien added: "As I have said already, Yucatan is progressing nicely, while Capri could join him in it. The Anvil and Finn McCool are likely runners too. I could have four runners.
"We have yet to decide for definite about Douglas Macarthur and whether he will show up or not."
'One-way traffic'
Yucatan heads Coral's market at evens and David Stevens, spokesman for the bookmaker, said: "Our opening show had Capri at the head of the betting, with Yucatan second favourite, but after an initial flurry of bets for the former - which saw him shorten from 11-8 to evens - it has been one-way traffic for the latter in the last 24 hours.
"It would now be a major surprise if he did not start favourite on Saturday."

Looks like the Irish Billionaires still like to feck the bookies and the man in the street
They will say we don't ask anyone to back Antepost, but who told the lucky ones that snapped up all the 4-1 O'Briens other one ?
