I thought the horse was feeling something the way he carried his head during the race unlike the way he normally runs.

Watched the replay, didn't look particularly comfortable at any point and I think is definitely better than that.
Having said that, I have been a bit disappointed with what looked to be a very promising 3yo crop so far. Lots will improve and others will come through no doubt, but too many that looked potential stars are looking like decent rather than outstanding prospects at this stage. No doubt something will turn up but as yet most of those I had my eye on have not met any really good older horses and seemed to struggle against moderate older ones.
In Gauteng we had decent performances from Querari Falcon and Africa Rising against decent older ones but quite a few disappointments as well. In the Cape horses like Table Bay, Our Mate Art etc have been ok but not anything to get excited about. Even Sgt Hardy/Attenborough who performed well, beat a MR 88 Filly who gave them 1.5/3kg into third so cant get all that thrilled either.(even though they got bumped up 4/5MR points for that).
Newlands ran decently against a decent horse in Whisky Baron and Bishops Bounty beat a MR 96 in Rodney at less than favourable WFA terms but again no performances that make you thing we have a star as yet. Here's hoping the next few weeks changes all that.
In the meantime, have to be careful in backing these unproven "potential" at poor odds.
