Cape Classic/Choice Carriers - let's get opinions in early. Fond memories of the choice carriers last year as Silver Mountain defied odds to win from draw 15/15.
Choice Carriers - Sail 11/2, Party Crasher 16/1
Very open race and I'm going in lightly myself. Drier stable look to be hot thus far in the Cape and I'll go for Sail. Tried over the distance, well-thought of by the stable and a good draw which is important on this winter course. Hopefully improved from her 2yo career too.
Party Crasher I thought was a bit unlucky last time after finding trouble in running. Think she's crying out for this extra furlong and I'll give her a nice chance of earning a cheque at 16/1.
The Cape Classic I think is also quite open. Would have been all over Our Mate Art normally but didn't really like his comeback run too much but I'll decide closer to race time on this. Table Bay, even with 60kgs, is still a threat along with Edict of Nantes.
Race 4 - Prince of Wales - 11/10
really couldn't have been any more impressive lto. margin could have been 5, 6 lengths had he wanted too. Improving rapidly and should go close I think.
and also the 2017 SunMet winner makes his seasonal reappearance. Lovely stuff.

Why? You dislike cape town so much yet you want to bet on their horses. Double standards but maybe you and your new best mate can try and pick a few winners and post them on the forum or maybe the two of you would like to keep it cosy :woohoo:

yes indeed!
he makes his much awaited seasonal apprearance, obviously not his type of distance but interesting enough his only c&d he won beating a useful type. wonder if he can pull off a pomodoro and win a sprint after a break

My thoughts on tomorrow's card :-
Out of sequence, R5, Belle Of Croom, if the going is good, then i think she is the one to beat. Looking at how they've priced up, the 3 year olds top the boards, however they are either returning from a break or making their handicap debuts. Admittedly they may have more scope for improvement, however the openness of the betting suggests very little value. Belle Of Croom's last win was in MR 68 company, and she has since tackled stronger than she faces tomorrow. I think 9 - 10/1 is good value.
R1) Barak Lavan from Muthiaga Club
R2) Step Out from Rock On Wood
R3) Black Cat Back for Captain Courteous
R4) Waiting For Rain from Prince Of Wales
R5) They all running for second :pinch:
R6) Our Mate Art (must have a chance at the weights) from Table Bay
R7) Final Judgement from Sail
R8) Marinaresco (if 50% fit) from Exelero
R9) Tin Soldier from Orange Tractor

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Race 1: it looks like a two horse race between Elusive Singer and Barak Lavan, although Muthaiga Club is a likely improver. Elusive Singer is working well and could get us off to a winning start.
Race 2: Step Out is a smart filly and with the natural improvement from her good debut we expect her to win, but not much value in the price. Rock on Wood has solid form and should not still be a maiden. The Widow's Club was fancied on debut and likely to improve significantly. Moon Princees, Nutbush Citilimits and Moment to Shine should be included in quartets.
Race 3: Imperial Guard has solid form and should again go close. Black Cat Back looks very promising, and is selected to win again. Captain Courteous should again be competitive.
Race 4: Icy Trail looks the right one in an open race.
Race 5: White Rose is a smart filly, and can win here despite a wide draw and the trip being on the sharp side. Magic Trick and The High Life are the main dangers.
Race 6:our Mate Art will be hard to beat at the weights. Elevated will be right there. Table Bay carries a big weight but is a top sort and won't be far off them.
Race 7: Final Judgement returns from a break but we are expecting a big run. Sail gets a kilo from her which brings them right together on the golden slipper run. The Secret is Out carries a 2kg penalty but has not put a foot wrong- she has to cope with a wide draw. Ektifaa and The Merry Widow should be included in quartets.
Race 8: Marinaresco is the class act, but this will be too short. Rodney and Midnite Zone look the right two over this trip.
Race 9: Very tough race. Field leg.
