Understand Dave

So to answer your question "-do you think racing is having a revival and on an upward swing or are we on a decline ?

Simple We are on a decline .

And agree maybe not under this topic and maybe another day. Lets enjoy this weekend looking forward to it.

Cheers

Back in the country for a short while and trying to renew my GC membership....about to give up....anybody who has dealt with their members department will tell you that they are definitely not 'in a rush'....seem to go into overdrive during Champions season only ( actually maybe )...doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell you that racing in KZN ( from an attendance and entertainment perspective ) could be better...

In my opinion two things are a barometer of the sport :- tote turnover as this funds the show and owners who provide the entertainment.

I think GC and Phum are working against each other... There is no good reason to have 3kzn meetings plus a Turf meeting on Met weekend... It's a rush is a National program so I cannot understand having a KN meeting on Saturday when the Met has 13 races You have two p6 in the Cape on the day with big fields.... Punters have limited funds so for me it seems like a Rush to get the mugs to spend the month's pool on one day...

For me,I think the problem with racing is nothing is defined so there are too many interpretations of terminology.
Racing has always been a rush for me .....and even more since I sold my business and race every day!
......but its not because of the "in a rush" initiative ,but in spite of it!
I wish I could get positive vibes from the way racing is managed, but I cant!!!!
Another example ....Ali Cohen's sabatical creates a hole in the commentating ranks so the timing to let Bumpy take leave and let Kritsiosis play celebrity, all week, in Cape Town,is mindless.
.....and if the excuse is the arrangements were in place ...you prioritise and change them!!!! its called management!
