Horses 1 and 3 in race 1 have collectively cost R4,900,000 and to date have together run 9 times for a stakes return of R16,875. Ouch!!!

Using my own dippy backyard methods, 77, despite finishing ahead of Captain Gambler who is rated as a 90. Sounds absurd, but Captain Gambler has run subsequently and was sandwiched between two horses rated 70-something again, so he is not running anywhere close to a 90, averaging at best (around) 79.
Please don't take this as gospel, just my opinion.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Race 1: Dark Goddess is coming along nicely and has a place chance. It's Complicated has the best form, but too many first timers to have a confident bet. Field of Light has been priced up favourite, but is bred for further. Dance at Dawn has had many chances and so not for me. Bushy Park a fair debut and could be a factor with normal improvement.
Race 2: Cape Laddie is my pick in this open race.
Race 3: Silver Willow is the one to beat. Angel of Athens is coming to hand and we expect further improvement. She has an ew chance. Osca has been priced up favourite and could justify if improving on fair debut.
Race 4: This is wide open. Shall be Free is a silly price at 33/1 on his best form. He has an ew chance.
Race 5: White Rose is scratched - coughing - she was my best runner on the day. Epona and Konkola should both relish the step up in trip, and are selected to fight it out despite bumping some hard knocking older fillies and mares.
Race 6: Viking Voyage could again go close in an open race. If Rock of Africa regains his 2yo form, he will win this.
Race 7: The race of the day. Nightingale is best in at the weights but likely to need this and better further. Goodtime Gal my pick of the older fillies. Sail should hold The Secret is out at the weights. Gimme Six and Trippi's Girl have a chance at the weights. Premier Dance could be anything. Selection: 1. Sail. 2. Goodtime Gal 3.gimme Six
Race 8: Some smart improving 3yos, and the winner should come from them. Lady of the House and Joy to Joy have good form and look well in at the weights but have wide draws to overcome. Silver Captain has a big weight to shoulder, but is classy and very unlucky in the running last time when badly bumped and nearly coming down. Bon Bon and Cavalleira have nice draws and are progressive. Bon Bon is well and has a good ew chance. She will be even better over further and when we revert to the new course.

Ruffian,I have Lady of the House a 75 (so won't argue with the official 76)
What is more interesting is that I have Silver Captain a 91 ,and if it reproduces ,should be quite strong ............problem is I'm not sure the Ramsden stable has hit form yet as it appears everything is aimed to peak a bit later in the season

For the uninformed, Race 1, Field of Light, is a full brother to the Cape Derby, Daily News winner Jackson who is now a stallion. Also note he is half brother to Heartland.
