Bookmakers betting on the lotto results

I know the lotto payouts to charities leave a lot to be desired HOWEVER I find it disgusting that bookmakers bet into this for their own gain.

It should be outlawed

I am sure that if it is legal ,it is just a loophole ......I remember that there were very stringent conditions imposed on the lotto operators ie.
a)maximum take-out for admin
b)amount that needs to be distributed and how!
How bookmakers can operate a lotto ,without welfare beneficaries,(or at all,TBH) is beyond me-my guess ....nobody has officially complained.

At a small shopping centre near me ,some guy has rented a shop and runs it as a "one arm bandit" lounge.....with no licence.........and I see police going in and out regularly :ohmy:
Been open for over 3 years!!!!!

Going back a few years but used to have a wee punt on 29 with jonny stark and Vish and they stopped as it was intellectual property of the lotto

In addition we have 3 illegal casinos / slots in our area and it's shit for us as we spent plenty on getting a licence and paying our various taxes and contributions each week

However we are in Africa and it stems from the top so doing things by the book is not always the best option.

I have an office in Germiston CBD - There are 14 Bottle stores in a 500m radius from me , Not joking . One right across the road from Dept of Home Affairs which is totally illegal. Also in two blocks seven churches .

Complained a million times to council , just ignore me, by Laws and must be dealt with by EMPD - They have no staff or passion to resolve it . Most are on the take anyhow.

It's not about how or what you bet on, it's about exact control of tax collection. The laws we have now (except for specific take-back situations) do not take into account punters laying and the existing laws have no way to interface a Betfair setup. So many other rules get loop holed. The co-mingled pools was facilitated by whole new chapters of regulations both provincial and national and amendments to previous laws. Do not hold your breath for a set of regulations for a Betfair, they don't even understand the model to formulate regulations that fit the existing laws, let alone have any motivation to start thinking about it and then opening for public input and on and on.

Betting on 2 or 3 lotto numbers just creates addition taxes to be collected. If USA is "it's the economy, stupid!", then gambling SA is "it's the taxes, stupid!"

I have brought up this before on another thread awhile back. Also similar is the online Lotto Live Draw every three minutes. To me its similar to roulette and online gambling casino games is prohibited in South Africa and somehow its bypassing some loophole.

Betting on lotto draws in other countries gets very close to "interactive gambling"(which is completely illegal) but not quite!!!!! ......as the gambling board cannot ensure the security of those draws!

How can they explain how this is any different to other bookies offering the open bet? Hypocritical in the extreme in my books
