With the Cape Flying Championships just round the corner you would have to think the Diadem would be a prep for some?

I think they will all be fully fit and trying to win this, and then just freshen up for the G1.
Most of them have had 2 or 3 recent races .

The exception to this is Red Ray who might need it, and has had the blinkers taken off. I think he showed he needed them in his KZN return starts and the team clearly spotted that. I'm guessing they don't want him to run too fresh after a 6 month break over this c/d. If he is on top form he wins, but I am concerned he doesn't quite put in the effort in until too late if the blinkers are need more than expected.

Apparently this is Trip to Heavens main aim as the 1000m might be too short in the G1 especially with his starting issue, TTTS is always likely to run a good race and some others in very good form so suspect this will be a cracking race and the winner will need to earn it.

You guys look at the most difficult race to find a winner, lump on to South Side in the 6th at 16/10.

Getting back to the Diadem, at the weights, Gulf Storm.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Race 1: Too many first timers
Race 2: Marshall has a strong hand. Tonya last 2 very good runs. Variance well in with the 4kg claim.
Race 3: We have Counting Stars running. He has had some niggles, but this is not the strongest field and he has an ew chance. Mark's Glory the one to beat. Choir of Angels and Trojan Quest fair form.
Race 4: Second Nature should enjoy the step up in trip and is my pick. Saint Janine has gone backwards after her good debut run but has ability. Quippi is improving. Moonsaballon and Katie Dubois have consistent form.
Race 5: Kenny Trix is consistent and is the one to beat. Fire in the Belly returns from a long break, but has ability. Dancer must be respected.
Race 6: South Side is on the upgrade and can win again despite the rise in her MR. Seattle Oak won her maiden well and looks the main danger.
Race 7: Lord Balmoral is selected in a small but strong field. Pillar of Hercules the danger.
Race 8: Talktothestars may enjoy this testing 1200m- Ill go with him, but he needs to repeat his Tsogo Sprint form. Trip to Heaven has good Gauteng form. Tevez and Red Ray have the class to win.
Race 9:The Right Road, Bobby Dazzler and River Cam all ran well on debut and can improve to win this. Cossack Guard has solid form.
