Summerveld - Any Trainers care to comment?

Hi

Would any Summerveld trainer or Stable employee be allowed or wish to share their views as to the below:

There is a major uproar amongst residents of the Upper highway area with regards to the Landfill site based in Shongweni. This landfill site is allegedly making people ill and causing asthma attacks etc etc. I have experienced the smell coming from the landfill on numerous occasions and had my 1 year old in hospital with Pneumonia( Personally think the landfill had nothing to do with it but the local Hospital Childrens ward was at capacitywith Pneumonia cases at the time).

So if this Landfill is causing health issues to the point that people are claiming it is, how are the horses Stabled and training at Summerveld coping and has there been any adverse health effects on Trainers / Work riders / Grooms etc?

One has to wonder?

Personally I haven't had much of the smell up there in my yard. I do often get it strongly on the way down the hill near the dump. I think it goes mostly in the valley below us and is at its worst with a easterly wind. I will ask the vets if they are finding any problems.

While the smell is not pleasant to smell the least, reaching Kloof and Waterfall at times...
It is good to know that yourselves and the horses are not being affected to the point of the ailments allegedly resulting from the air...
