Marinaresco and Horizon - tough day at the races

Marinaresco looks like all is not well. Was meant to be on the flight to the U.S. On his run today doubt Trump will give him a visa.

Horizon had no excuses. He must be better than that.

The last two runs have not been anywhere near what he is capable of. The Green point run wasn't a fluke but since then he's been a flop. I did notice when he went down today he wasn't very settled - usually he's a very quiet horse. Even at the stalls he was misbehaving.

No excuses..just thoughts here. At this stage, they should keep him in SA and ready him for the durban season. Either he's just not good enough or there's a reason for these below par efforts. I'm sure Candice and Grant must be scratching their heads wondering what's happened.

Horizon I never fancied him much today but he's still very young and has a lot of improving to do. Give him another chance.

Before the Green Point stakes, Marinaresco,had never run to better than a 109.
Muddled prep runs are like friendlies and dead rubbers in sport ...best ignored and IMO it was clear that the Green Point Stakes had to be ignored.
On that basis,contrary to popular belief,running to a 115 yesterday was Marinaresco's best run ever!!!!!
(coincidentally 115 is what the handicappers gave him as a "capped" result of the Green Point anyway-right result /wrong reason)

(This not ARM disease -posted this same opinion for months...lol)

Marinaresco;
Highly overrated. Done nothing to justify his reputation beside winning Champions Cup, a race that was his for the taking...

The entire July field of 2016 ran as expected. None in the first four...

Horizon;
Moved up like a winner but as soon as he was about to hit the front I noticed his tail swishing about. Very inexperienced and coltish run. Expect to see more consistency come next year...
Richard Fourie is the greatest...

I put Marinaresco and Silver Mountain in similar basket , over rated

Horizon i agree we really not seen the best of him. he didn't like being cluttered up near the rails riffing and pulling his head , once in open had a fleet turn of foot but it was short lived as run out of gas. wait till next season we should see a nice horse develop.

Horizon got involved with a bit of eye balling and barging about 300m out, he`s not battle hardened and it probably took its toll

Both ran to ability at this stage of their careers in my opinion..

Horizon should have been a bit closer but I couldn't see him fighting out the finish based on form study (and without trainer opinions on how much he improved, purchase price, etc etc)

On the Guineas run - it looked liked Table Bay, Edict of Nantes and Elevated would fight it out.. Gold Standard and William Longsword's results confirms this was a likely form result, IMO.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, in my view however, I believe that SHOULD Horizon be able to produce his best as an entire, the others would never beat him in a true run race - unfortunately I doubt we will ever see the match up between Horizon and William Longsword :unsure:
