Soon all "Richest Races" you will have to but a spot. This concept is similar to the Pegasus World Cup. Only for the elitist while racing enthusiast's like me will still wake up early in the morning to watch or stay up late like watching Arrogate.

What stops someone from buying 10 stakes @ 600k and selling them off to owners who have good things at 1bar?

This race is scheduled like a week before the prestigious Grade 1 WFA Cox Plate and less than 3 weeks before the race that stops the nation, the Melbourne Cup. Even small owner's will rather target those races because of the privelege to run in them and win it and the prize money is also huge. Also I doubt this race will have any bearing for your runner to qualify or increase the rating for the Melbourne Cup unless their Racing authority grant it some status.

I thought the race was over 1200m? Melbourne Cup 3200m?

You right Bob  I thought I read 2200m. In that case the race will work out fine for the rich. Can't see many European Horses in as the Abbaye and the sprint race at Ascot is the same time period and the Breeders Cup Sprint three weeks later and horses need to be in quarantine to go to Australia.
