Ok Rob point taken was referring to
Pirates is Hilton, scotia is dave, zoro is george, oscar is Johno, elvis is barry, sly is shane, shrek is chris, CM is mike, frodo is Eben, etc etc
The bottom line is we know the majority
Then you get the posters that you can almost tell from the first post that they have joined to cause disruption
They eventually push the barriers and get banned
Followed by the outcry freedom of speech , double standards etc
At the same time and not visible to the posters are the reports to moderator, phone calls "who is this guy" and the occasional lawyers letter
Good punting

I've learnt a thing or two from the more experienced members/posters. (Dont know if that's a good thing or not) :woohoo:
Out of curiosity;
How do you change your username if you would like to?
Tried doing so a while back but can only change "name" and not "username"
wonder if we can get an answer to question of changing our usernames as i would like to change to my proper

Perhaps I'm missing something but almost every one of the issues you refer to would be eliminated with "proper name" forum.
I have, over the years been contacted a few times by the establishment,by telephone, reacting to posts, correcting or explaining, and I am pleased to say that none have been unpleasant interactions...I doubt that would be the case if I was hiding behind a pseudonym!

Perhaps I'm missing something Rob. They contact you personally to clarify or whatever and leave the rest of mankind in the dark? When a simple post (a la Dev and Hollywood) can clarify it for one and all. Where is the logic in that? Just because you write it under your name rather than say under "Charlize The Ron", you get an answer! lol Totally baffling.
Though it wouldn't surprise me if I were to use "Charlize The Ron" as a pseudoym that I might get a few contacts also
of course they would be immediately disappointed but such is life lol
For the record, my former (very valid imho) reasons for wanting to have a pseudonym have long gone.

You are clearly missing something .......in 3 cases particularly (all 3 involving persons often mentioned on this forum and 1 who even posted in the very early days) ,when I answered the phone and answered and was asked if I am Rob Faux....yes ....the one who posts on ABC ....yes!
All three conversations started along the lines of "I am happy to chat with you but I am not prepared to interact with nameless &*()^% on the forum........."
Two of them particularly, asked me to keep our chat confidential and I have honoured that.,but i treated all the chats as private anyway,as they were!
Surely you are not surprised at that ....I know for myself, If I don't know who I'm talking to why would I care what they think or say!

I have deliberately kept quiet on this issue, but what the hell .....
Firstly imo there are two types of nameless (*&*(((* on this forum - those that everyone knows as a result of revealing their identities on the 'Who Are You' thread (what happened to that?) and those that do not. It seems that most of the trouble are caused by the nameless ones - and I have no issue with banning someone who clearly abuses his / her right to free speech by insulting other members or public figures (whether they are racing personalities or not)
Some of the nameless ones however claim to have good reason for not revealing who they are and I respect that and some of these raise valid issues - and stating one's opinion on whether someone is a good or poor presenter is surely part of free speech - these folks imo should not suffer for their stating an opinion (whether anonymous or not)
We all know some people are more 'important' in this game (or they are seen to be more 'important') - now if have an opinion on any person in any capacity, I reserve my right to voice that opinion in a fair and non-insulting way - but it seems some of these people never do anything wrong

Thank you as always for the kind comment Rob
I may well be missing many things but on this I don't think so.
I can appreciate that they may not want to inter-act with an individual who has p1ssed them off. But, I can't see any good reason why they can't clarify matters on here for all rather than contact one individual. Though I accept of course that I do not know the nature of your queries. As mentioned, Dev plays such a role for Hollywood and I really can't remember a time he has come in for abuse, though of course clanners continue to moan about Hollywood itself.
Come now Rob, you have answered many questions or commented on many threads here when I am sure they were instigated by someone you didn't know. I am sure many have benefited from your knowledge. I am sure you have often helped people along the way that you did not know well or at all. It is simply called being helpful. It shouldn't matter what they think or say... unless of course they are being abusive.
Anyway, let us not have a big one on this as the point is really about pseudonyms, let us just choose to think differently, again
I no longer have a preference either way. If it doesn't affect anyone adversely, I am happy to use names. I remain unconvinced it will change things much but hopefully time will prove me very wrong.

Englander ,you are right but sadly I have,on occasion wasted time debating someones opinion only to find later that if they had declared their financial interests, there would have been no debate. They weren't just matters of opinion!
Following a couple of those, generally I prefer to interact with pseudonyms that are the known ones that Frodo talks about!
(BTW my point about missing something ,is how strongly some obviously feel about interacting with nameless or faceless persons)
