Leaving welts on a horse
8 years 3 months ago
I see Murray only got fined 2k for marking a horse on Saturday, something that needs a lot of effort to do these days ( new whips )
Considering the racing community wanted the groom executed that kicked the horse at Greyville, I thought the offence On Saturday deserved a bigger penalty?

If you need to hit a horse like that then you not a jockeys ass... I suggest the said Jockey should get another Job ..
It's time to take away the WHIPS & BITS then we will see
Real racing ??? And a mere 2k fine ? That's ridiculous....
Somebody should call the SPCA

Why even compare the groom and jockey incidents? Thats just ridiculous. Both are wrong!!! Both should be punished!!!

I agree with you
The whole point was that there are still people beying for blood over the groom incident
And the jockey incident on Thursday I was just using as an example

With todays whips I find it hard to believe he managed to welt a horse! Whips are so padded today that I can hit as hard as I want on my hand without causing any pain. I would like to watch the film and see if he hit the horse in an excessive manner first.

See the PE thread - that race is the same one where this occurred...
Jockey C Murray signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R2000-00 for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 in that he used his crop in an unnecessary manner, which resulted in wheals on the right hindquarter of the horse HANDSOME HENRY (AUS).
