Going with Desert Chief in the first. After an alert start on debut lost it's early position. He fought hard Gone By Not Forgotten all the way down to the line. Now is 3kgs better off and gets the services of Gavin Lerena. He must have also showed something at home as he was backed in from 35/1 to 15/1. If not as green should give the favorite a big run for its money. Never easy with 2 year olds as improvement can be huge from one race to the next.

Desert Chief(1) Shrek covered it perfectly above
[strike]Normanz(2) Appears to have Juan Two Three held on both Turf runs and 1000M also in our favour..[/strike] Scratched (Lame Near Fore)
Over Drive(3) Needed first local run and will be much better over today's 1400
Laikipia(4) Appeared to run in snatches her last start but run on well and will go very close with a repeat of that run..
Harvard Crimson(5) A repeat of any of the first 3 starts in PE will put her in with a big shout and well drawn.
Champery(7) 1,25 L behind Live Life and Carry On Alice and 6 L ahead of The Merry Widow in her last start definitely makes her the horse to beat IMO.
It Is Written(8 ) Had the choice of rides here and went this route on the strength of the good 1400M form and a great run behind Whisky Baron but stable mate definitely the danger..
Casino King(9) The Value bet of the day and prob 1 of our better rides back over the 1600 and despite 2 reasonable runs since winning off a 74 has been dropped to a MR 68 at around 5 - 6/1 great e/w bet IMO...
NB. All of the above carry the normal wealth hazard warnings..

GONE NOT FORGOTTEN – many unknowns here but this horse won much easier than the margin suggests. Could well come down to strength in the finish which would see Lerena win but I think the Greeff runner was allowed to gently win his debut and much more will come from him.
OVERDRIVE (drawn to win)– needs this trip – will enjoy a strong ride as he seems to be an underachiever if allowed to do his own thing… I expect Royal Regatta to be involved as he’s a consistent though limited 4yr old. (plum draw)
PATHFORK POPPY – no real chance at current odds but the run that flags some type of ability is the 5th behind Gracie May… She crabbed her way from the outside to the inside rail and under a very weak ride ran on almost unaided… would be surprised if she won but should be included in perms with a vigorous form rider up.
I make the 6th between STREAK, JEREMY (placed third in small but decent field over this trip in the Cape) and ROYAL DREAMER(forget the poly run)
I will include NIGHT IN TAHITI and VICTORIA LAVELLE in my bets though CHAMPERY and OUR DESTINY bring graded form into the race.
AFRIKABURN – Fortune protected his rating to some extent last time as he was kidding over the final furlong… could have destroyed that field if the jockey was less experienced.. I think he can go in again…
I will be including both I WILL BE(many winners in his form) and PAY AS YOU GO in my PA with as many others as I can afford.
