A Disgraceful Time Writes an Anonymous letter in S

What do you think about these comments written in Sp
Quote - Mr Editor, please tell us who wrote this article. I ask because virually every comment of indignation has merit and is commendable. Phumelela, Kenilworth Racing and Gold Circle treat poorly and could not give two hoots about us. The only time they will consider us is when we on mass no longer spend our hard earned salaries on racing.
Any way I am told that the sectional timing are at an end or close to an end. The twist in the tale is about to be let out the bag. If puntets want the use of sectional timing they will have to pay for it. Nothing is free to us.
What peeves me off is that the NHA has allowed sectional timing testing without regulating it. Devices have been used and information gleaned from them. Statistics have been prepared but webthe ordinary folk and owners are not given details. For months on end the sectional timing tests have been secretly used by those in control to benefit themselves. They know who they are.
The NHA needs to tell us what it has donevand will do about regulating sectional timing. The longer tbey take certain people are getting an unfair advantage.
We need openness and not the current nonsense.
I am very interested in the pay part . The RA and operators sound like they want to suck every cent out of this game

Tests have been done
Few small problems sorted
Should be up running in a week
Meeting to be held on how to disseminate data
Jocks to be informed when tests will take place
Equimotion will manage

Thanks Dave
Sorry I know it is not confirmed but the part that we will have to pay for the data ? Well then who cares when it is ready.
I thought the oppperators were paying for this . Or the RA the non profit organisation that sits with R 300 mill. Surely this shoud be open information. Why must someone make money out of this.
Just waiting for the R5 token fee to use the bathroom at the race course next.

I know some American Tracks, Singapore and Hong Kong provide Sectional Timing and Trakus for free.
I will be seriously disappointed if its not free

I cannot see why in any World a product that will add to Racing being a game of "SKILL" would not be freely available to the public. Punters pay for the bet and the info should be given freely to them as it is the takeout that makes the profit... while not entirely the same but similar, timing is actually just past results as are winning lotto numbers. Imagine paying for Lotto results!! Where a nominal charge could occur (this is not my opinion as I think free will add to turnover) is the agency that collates past data and analyses it as a punter aid eg the manner in which Computaform and winning form give there adjusted times etc. When Phumelela or GC build an extra track using punters funds and therafter maintain it they do not expect punters to pay a fee to bet on that track so why when they add a new feature to a track should punters have to pay to see the results of that feature?

Is there enough racing fans in SA to even think about charging for this ?
100 trainers may pay
50 pro punters may pay
Will Mo and Joe pay?
Our fan base is so small I reckon there is no point in charging, either go free or scrap and save on future cost

Never mind the publicationsame why not add it to the slopes report as official information open for all. No someone has to make a rand here.

Little off the topic but still has to do with Statistics and Analysis. They are literally hundreds of websites that provide sports data/information for free. You do not have to pay a cent for it. Even on bookmaker websites now you just have to click on the Team to get their latest statistics.

The answer in NO ... When I walk the course or Tab etc there are so few people using Computaform Winning Form etc... Most are using the newspapers and free-form - Only when you go to the Rooms and Boxes do you see those publications...

I was led to believe that in the grand scheme of things that the implementation and running costs were negligible.

Finally some news on this!!! For the general public,I certainly hope they given it out to everybody for free. On a personal note,Ive been waiting ages for this and wouldn't mind paying as it will greatly improve everyone's analyses and understanding of races.
