Is it right?
8 years 2 months ago
Searching through some possible bets on some footie tonight, I notice that a certain bookie is offering odds for players that are out injured and its an impossibility for them to play. My question is why? Surely as Football is now their "prime" business, these markets should be updated thoroughly and promptly. For the lack of a better word, Is this not Theft? Or do they refund bets placed if the player waged on is not even part of the match day squad?

Maybe the question is when is/are the squads taking the field known to all? Unlike in rugby, the squad is announced a few days in advance, i think in soccer and ante post betting for (say) the July, Met, Summer Cup, etc, it's a case of "buyer beware", because it has to be assumed the bookie knows has much of the starting 11 as you, and that must be very little. It could be like a horse returning from a rest, the bookie prices up and it's up to you to know the status of the horse's well being/fitness level, take the price or leave it alone.
Just my opinion but i could be horribly wrong.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

If the players are still in it there must be value on others

Yes, or in other words, what is the bookie's margin on this event? If its large then stay away.
