Judging by the horses that have stepped out in the other provinces over the past few months the KZN trainers are in for a bleak few months.

Garth Puller said the KZN trainers should all take a few months holiday
The visitors from Cape Town Brett Crawford Snaith Marshall Bass Kotzen
Ramsden should all make their presence felt.
Then Tarry and De Kock raiding for all the big ones

Will be great having good horses with consistent form to punt on.

Natal racing has gone backwards and is in free-fall at the moment. Shocking programming of races over the past few years, with nothing changing. Lets not even mention the state of the turf tracks (Scottsville haha joke :( ). The whole of Natal racing is happy with picking up the off-season pish/rubbish and giving the season racing to the raiders..... (help yourself) Many owners are/have reduced their ownership in Natal and are moving to other provinces. Why would you want to stay if you are serious about racing ? Having horses stand in their stables for months waiting for races. How do you prep for the season ? Frikken deja vu !!! Im tired of waiting for change and listening to excuse after excuse. Well I suppose they could do without me and my fellow "out-of-towner" who support Natal racing.

As an ex KZN owner I agree, they don't care about our opinion.

this season will be a disaster.

The july will run on the Polytrack or at scottsville.

top horse are gonna be injured on these tracks and will result in very weak fields.

Do they still race in KZN? Haven't even watched a race there I would say in about 8 months... boring! Clairwood like Newmarket really made racing but they are sadly gone :S

Clairwood sorely missed, only George Rowles was against the sale but it went ahead nevertheless.

The best thing about Natal racing is that they race twice a week,so I get time off from racing for family.

Utter crap, but they can't work out why turnover is down.

I wonder how owners/ trainers cope with things in KZN. .
I look for a promising horse in the nominations. It needs a certain distance ...nominated for its race are 96 horses with MR varying from 15 points above the race MR to 25 points below...yet the weights and draws are done immediately and the horse gets a draw of 90 .
Scratched as from that draw any of the courses in KZN you have a big disadvantage even though field size is limited.

Next 3 times nominated same luck and eventually runs from a bad draw with no luck. When it finally cracks a draw the field it faces is very strong because it so happens that a few good ones also finally cracked a draw. Not talking about any particular horse but I see it in the nominations all the time.

I honestly don't see how a trainer can plan a race program with such a system. Owners with a decent but limited horse must also feel aggrieved.
