there is some logic in that in Plate races as the top rated horses(obviously there are unraced and horses that do not yet have a rating) are 1,2,3 and are at level weights--- In Maidens these are the horses I tend to look at first in an often raced field and bank there. Look at the results today in the Maidens and even the past week... The Handicapper has done the work for you and his Merit Ratings are more often correct than incorrect in these races (Sometimes in PE I have been hurt bankering a former Cape horse well clear in the ratings in a Maiden or Grad but really only that place)

My dad plays the numbers 1/3/9 in jackpit and pick sixes whenever jus natal races ..if no 9he plays 6 and if 13runners he puts 13 ...
Doing this since the 80s ..plays that first then selects his.own ...caught pick 6 for R729 paid 274000 & same day jackpot paid 15000....when we look at the way bookies price horses and then we study knowing all that we do ,we obviously look for the best horse in the race acc to our methods but its mind boggling the results we get nowdays ..also soccer is even worse ...hence all the massive payouts ..I seen a guy win the soccer 10 for R2 & collected over 300k...

.....I must admit that before I really grasped the bigger picture and the boundless amount of knowledge in the game about 15yrs ago....I too played around "lucky numbers" and had some successes with big swingers in big races....and often if numbers in dreams or reoccurring numbers in day to day kept popping up I would think that it was a sign and try include them in my exotic play.....one Saturday morning after a sleepless night was woken by 3 gun shots from police chasing off house breakers at 3 33am....later when walking the dog in the veldt near where police had been....saw 3 doves sitting on a 3 stranded wire fence.....I believed that this was a sign....so later while working out a P6 put no 3 in each leg and added the horses calculated in my play.....the thinnest leg was 2nd leg or race 5 at a KZN meeting I had only 3 horses including no 3....went and played it at the tote....put some cash in telebet account,,,
.....got home and fell asleep on the sofa while watching TT after the 3rd race and woke up as the horses were finishing race 5.....a real roughie, no form and no hint of genetic promise.....trained by Laff.....romped home by lengths....I was shocked and disappointed that such a dog could win a race....and went back to sleep....woke later and checked the results.... big P6 payout and had all the right horses ....then only noticed that the dog that won race 5 was no 3....had 5% went to cash ticket got 30K and change.... :S

Yip, studying form and stats will never find you that roughie, only luck does.

to make big money on racing you need luck no other way

to make long term bank growth you need hard work discipline and a structure.
