The Snaith Var horse in the second looks a bet. Seems to have benefitted from gelding

Race 1: Rings and Things is consistent and looks a bit better than stable companion Hopeful which hasn't followed up on its good debut, but price too skinny. Ikebana should improve on fair debut and must be considered. Ostinato has also disappointed since good debut, but looks the ew value in this race. Remember This moderate debut but should come on with the benefit of the run.
Race 2: Lots of first timers and horses which can improve with a run under the belt make this very tricky. Varside is the one to beat if repeating last good run.Weekend Warrior, Qureraris Secret and Captain Ram all warrant respect.
Race 3: Emerald Gal and Samsara should fight this out unless a good first timer pops up. Samsara has the most scope for improvement so is my pick.
Race 4: I have Love Triangle running here. He is still a big baby, and was clueless first time out. He will need further, but should improve a few lengths with the run under the belt and has a place chance. Lauren of Rochelle is consistent, and should again be involved in the finish. He was only a couple of lengths ahead of Off Broadway last time and I make that one the horse to beat with normal improvement. The 2yos have a tough task here, although What a Winner is a smart sort and could earn a cheque.

Race 5:Very tricky race with a number of capable but not very consistent sorts. I'll go the field in P6.
Race 6: Cape Laddie ran well after a break, and he is weighted to win this if he sees out the trip.(I don't bother with the 2nd run after a break myth). King of the Corn is progressive and is the danger. There are quite a few with chances- best of the rest are Waiting for Rain, Friendly Tibbs and Kilrain.
Race 7: A small but tricky race . I will go with the improving 3yos Quickfire and Come on Sonny. Free Agent looks the best of the older horses.
Race 8: Another tricky handicap to end the day. Moonrise Sensation was just touched off by Silver Master last time, and has been entered in the winter Guineas- he is the one to beat here, but quite a few that are now running off undemanding ratings that could pop up.

The last race looks a match between Moonrise Sensation and Silver Master. Anyone agree/ disagree?

Also feel Quickfire looks to have the most scope for improvement, the next least raced horse, Zeb, has already had 7 runs, was beaten by Quickfire and is making his handicap debut. The sort of race where one either banker's Quickfire, or leaves him out of calculations. The horse with the ability to quicken will probably win the race.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Brett Crawford's coments:

Captain Ram – has come on since smart debut so should run a very good race.
Harvey Spector – shows speed, now comes back to 1000m and takes on winners, but in good form for this test.
Moonrise Sensation – looks well, work is good, expecting a sharp effort trying 1600m.
