simply royal didnt get the max penalty from the handicapers for her last win and mr tarry called zo delussional for his prediction regarding the woolavington ..the handicapers and mr tarry were proved right on her run yesterday where she couldnt win under handicap terms so i doubt she can be competitive at group one level at level weights ..i think i would go along with mr tarrys opinion

Well said Shrek and Pirates and I think Curlin might be smiling quietly to himself.

You are all missing the point

Zietsman put up an exceptional bet ahead of time at an excellent price and should be congratulated on that. That was the point of the original thread

Mr Tarry said no such thing. I was the one who teased Ziets and said that in jest. Nothing serious was meant. I had egg on my face when Simply Royale did win, and I apologised and gave credit to Ziets for his tipping/ courageous call. That said, I don't hold the opinion that SR is top class or grade one. I could be wrong, and it won't be the first time:-)

I'm going to start by saying I don't have a dog in this fight..........

After objectively watching the race for the first time a few seconds ago, here are my thoughts.....

She jumps well enough and settles in mid pack. She is a little rank in behind until Khumalo settles her on the rail.
When coming into the straight, it seems others quicken a little better than her. The pace looked decent so there should be no excuses there. (Perhaps she does need further to show her best? )

Watching the head on though of the last 200m, Khumalo hits her behind the saddle only 2 times and it looks as if they are more taps than actually getting stuck in. She runs on a little but then, when she is next to the horse travelling on her outside, I think My Friend lee, Khumalo appears to stop riding completely in the last 50 meters or so.

All in all, I'm tore about her abilities. Do I think Khumalo was vigorous, NO, but I don't think it made a huge difference to the outcome. It did cost her a position surely........

I don't think she is G1 material but it also wasn't a hard ride by Khumalo

I think her problem is she doesn't settle early.

On debut over 1200m they went quickly and settling wasn't a problem.

When she won 2 starts back she set her own pace and kicked away.

Yesterday she wasn't relaxed early and had too much to do in the straight. She was also a little interfered with. Jockey was also the least animated of the top finishers but i don't think it made much difference.

I definitely think she is a horse to follow off her current rating, particularly as she races more and hopefully learns to settle. Alternatively, she can set her own pace but then probably isn't going to learn to settle.

There we go.So there was an excuse so let's not right her off too soon. But I'm sure that is the last thing a punter wants to hear that the horse was injured.

Just give me even more confidence after not striding out and the very uninspiring ride that she is way better than her rating.
She is going to the top... ;)

Huh, horse was not striding out and you still use the term uninspiring ride. No wonder some are calling the ride on Georgia May uninspiring.

I am no horseman but imagined it went to the front like before and tried to use its stride and Khumalo tried to kick for home only to get no response and the horse compounded and did further damaged to its fore. This is not bush racing....

I disagree - she will win races but she is no champion or star - Champions win races they are supposed to lose -
