With a South African trainer yet to train a winner in England it's tough to have any real confidence about this filly in the King's Stand Stakes(and race 2 @ Ascot today),but Sean Tarry seems confident that the horse is near peak fitness,so @ 20-1ish it's hard not to have a sentimental nibble.

Would love to see NC win here, I'm in for a small punt.
Homsickness clicking in big time, my eyes will be filling up when Mrs Windsor parades in her carriage to open the meeting. My taxes once helped pay for this carriage, a train, a yacht a palace or two and the odd castle as well, it's impossible not to show pride this week.
The Royal Family
Fish and Chips
Big Cook Little Cook
All the great British institutions could be upstaged by NC today...Go the Tarry charge, good luck.

Tellycrap coverage is rubbish.
Clearly shame is not a factor at Tellytrack.

Very good effort by National Colour, I thought, considering first run in England, first run since Dubai, and first run since surgery. Only beaten 2 lengths, and raced on 'wrong' side of the track.

Watched the replay, quite impressive after such a long layoff, in this company.
What next for her

According to Racing Post, the Nunthorpe Stakes at York is an obvious target race for National Colour. I'm not entirely sure when that is, but I think it's in August.
She ran a great race yesterday, just about in front at one stage and racing on the distinctly inferior far side of the track. It was a very strong field, even if the winner caught just about everyone by surprise, and considering she hadn't run for so long it all added up to a smart effort.
Ultimately, the Prix de L'Abbaye at Longchamp on Arc day looks like a good race to aim her at, as long as she stays sound of course. Whether she would want the going to be as soft as it sometimes gets in Paris in the autumn is debatable, but it isn't always like that and there is every chance she can find going at Longchamp that is spot on for her.
As I've said before, I've been waiting a while for one of our top sprinters to try his or luck on the UK/European circuit. If the Aussies can do it, so can we, right??
