I put R10 000 places on a horse

the pay out is for example R1

I risked R10 000 and got ZERO profit back

from my investment of R10 000 the tote takes R2500

so I make no money while the tote makes R2500 risk free money

I rest my case

Lets make this real simple...

The bookmakers are betting on the toss 9/10. Why not even money ?

A 2 horse race why are the two horses not even money. Or a 3 horse race 2/1 every runner respectively.

I doubt you understand betting

but since you Google everything

please Google what percentage 9/10 is

bookies make around 5% if both selections at 9/10 attract same about of bets

5% compared to 25% is big

If you had no overheads then I agree with you fully.

However the operator puts on the show and if not a cent is punted worst case scenario the overheads remain the same but the risk is 100%.

Their risk is not in paying the punter but in the punter taking or not taking a bet but it remains a risk.

do shareholders benefit from the take out ?

yes or no ?

so we must pay for those fat cats as well ??

Do you believe that they shouldn't?

This is another discussion surely as all of us are shareholders in one form or the other if we belong to a pension or provident fund. Would you argue the same way if your investments provided no return?

Shareholders are understandably part of the problem but they also offered the solution when things were really bad for racing.

It's only through growth in the customer base that all these issues could be resolved but only if the operator returns a decent portion to racing, and that is obviously not guaranteed.

Mr A

Since it is clear that your only interest is in your own posts as I have actually responded I will rather bow out now than to waste any further time.

Google cant answer everything!!!!

But why will you want to wager R10 000 for a zero profit. Clearly you need a course in Actuarial Science. Oh got that word from the Oxford dictionary, not google.

As they say on Social Media if a fellow person does not have an answer or a witty reply they will say, but your grammar or did you google that!!!!

My last word....The last bet that I wagered on the Tote was the vouchers I won in the Gold Circle fantasy game. Prior to that was July Day 2016 :)

am not too clued up but from what am reading if the tote dosent have a takeout racing is over so taking exotics with bookies is not the long term solution....all that you highlited send to phum.
The best horse doesn't always win the race.

double standards by many

they want everyone to play exotics of the tote

but when got a good thing those same people run to the bookies to get the price

I wonder if zietsman played Simply Royal on tote or bookies ?

tiger shark you play your bets on the tote or bookies ?

it's just double standards to tell us support the tote of exotic bets , why the win bets on the tote don't contribute to the game ?

if you pro tote be pro tote all the times not when it benefits the pockets
