An enormous entry of 45 speedsters has been received for the R400 000, Grade 2 Post Merchants to be run over 1 200m at Greyville on Friday evening, June 16, including a number of horses that will contest the Grade 1 feature races at the Tsogo Sun Sprint meeting at Scottsville tomorrow.
One of the longest running top sprint races in the country, the Post Merchants has also been one of the most popular events of Champions Season drawing a large crowd to the central Durban venue for the evening meeting.
Among the entries is the Australian-bred entire Moofeed from the Mike de Kock stable that finished second to Daring Dave in 2015 and could lock horns with the very talented Western Winter three-year-old Attenborough that is one of the fancied runners in the Grade 1 Tsogo Sun Sprint at Scottsville tomorrow. Also in the entries is the Ashaawes gelding Asstar from the Garth Puller yard that ran third behind Kangaroo Jack in the Post Merchants last year.
Topping the weights for the Post Merchants is the Joey Ramsden Tsogo Sun Sprint runner Brutal Force along with other Scottsville contenders Bull Valley, Bulleting Home and Gulf Storm. The entries include two very smart fillies in Wrecking Ball from the Grant Maroon yard and the Lucky Houdalakis-trained Joan Ranger that contests the South African Fillies Sprint tomorrow.
With such a massive entry, selecting the final field for the Greyville race will be difficult even with many of the nominees unlikely to be considered on their current merit ratings.

Lots of good entries . Gives a problem as many of those actually targeting this run as a final objective, or to qualify for the Mercury sprint, won't get a run.

why run trip to heaven in a handicap ?his two logical races would be the race on the 10th of june over a mile at wfa which he won before being demoted last year and the mercury sprint over 1200m also at wfa ..both these races are group ones ..mr tarry is a master at placing his horses in the right races for them
