Anyone know why Deo Juvente was scratched ?

not an expert on ratings but his rating went up to a 115 so they don't want him to give that much weight away in the July so they rather run him in WFA races like the Champions Cup, Gold Challenge. could be wrong though?

The winner of the recent Grade 1 Champion’s Challenge at Turffontein, Deo Juvente, was a surprise withdrawal from Africa’s Greatest Horseracing Event, the R4.25-million, Grade 1 Vodacom Durban to be run over 2 200m at Greyville in Durban on Saturday, July 1, at the second declaration stage for the race today.

Although the entry list has now been trimmed by a further nine nominees after 12 horses were withdrawn at the first declaration stage, there are still 36 of the country’s top horses bidding for a place in the 18-horse field that will face the starter.

With stables throughout the country re-assessing the possibility of their runners being invited to take part, a total of 21 of the original 57 entries have now been withdrawn, nine at today’s second stage deadline date.

Those withdrawn are Secret Captain from the Duncan Howells stable, Copper Pot, Fort Meyers and Bold Viking from the yard of Sean Tarry along with Bi-Pot and Deo Juvente from the Geoff Woodruff stable. Gavin van Zyl has scratched Rocketball and Justin Snaith has withdrawn Prince Of Wales with Mike de Kock taking Jubilee Line out.

Final supplementary entries will be received up to 11am on Monday, June 12 with the weights being published the following day on June 13. Final declarations will be on Monday, June 19 with the final field with draws being announced the following day on June 20.
