It is a bit rough that a former group winner at the course can't get a run . Likewise a potential up and comer, but can't argue with the horses in the field.
Fact is that there will be a few winnable target races that trainers will not get their horses into during the season because of the restricted field size.

Some will be because of bad luck in a prep race run etc. But at the end of the day trainers can't be complacent in prepping to qualify because they know the conditions. Someone is always going to lose out.

He will be happy now with the scratchings...... me personally, I don't thing the Conglomerate has done anything in the last 11 months to deserve a run.

Imo it seems that the people in charge of selecting runners at Gold Circus has lost the plot - first the shambles of the First July Log and now this - how can Janoobi (Gross 103) get a run before The Conglomerate (Gross 107) and Table Bay (Gross 106)

But I also think that they should both have been entered in the Cup Trial as a backup

The Conglomerate was entered in the Cup Trial but must have been taken out expecting to run in the Gold Challenge.
