2nd run after rest?

Just something I found interesting about the Bass-Robinson runners during the KZN season.


1st run

Horizon - 1st
Live Life - 3rd
Marinaresco - 1st
Helderberg Blue - 2nd


2nd run

Horizon - 7th
Live Life - 9th
Marinaresco - 11th
Helderberg Blue - 5th( out of 8 )


Now Horizon's the only one from the above that have run again and he ran 3rd in the Daily News - back to the form his capable of. Clearly they've all run below best in their 2nd runs. Now they're all running against strong fields so it isnt THAT surprising but all of those runs are some way below their respective bests.


Mere coincidence or the dreaded second run after rest syndrome?
