The Cape Cobras, one of South Africa’s leading cricket franchises who has produced more than 20 senior international players since the dawn of the new millennium, has proudly announced World Sports Betting as the new title sponsors of the Cape Cobras over the next three years.

World Sports Betting (WSB), South Africa’s premier Online Sportsbook, offers online, mobile, tele-bet and in-store betting on a wide range of sport including Cricket, Horse Racing, Soccer, Rugby, Golf, Motorsports and much more, with hundreds of thousands of markets to bet on every day. They are particularly well known as the top Cricket Sportsbook in SA, offering hundreds of pre-match and live-in-play markets on all major matches.

“We are extremely upbeat about the association with the Cape Cobras,” said Warren Tannous, Chief Executive Officer of WSB. “Henceforth they will be known as the World Sports Betting Cape Cobras, and we are confident that more than three trophies over the next three seasons will be emblazoned with that exact name.

“That is not only because we at WSB are proud supporters of the franchise who have been the conveyor belt of some of the best players to ever play cricket, but also because of its track record of winning eight franchise titles since 2004 and being the second best in terms of trophies won during the past 13 years.

“Our immediate aim and focus is to offer extensive resources and support to the Cobras so that they can return to the summit of the game domestically,” added Tannous.

Asked about the synergy between the two brands, Ryno Du Plessis, National Marketing Manager for World Sports Betting calls it a “Winning combination”. “We look forward to changing the face of Cobras Cricket and fans of the franchise can expect some fantastic on field activations, cheerleaders and a whole lot more… We are especially excited to see our heroes take the field in their new WSB Orange away kits,” said Du Plessis.

“We also express our vehement opposition to match-fixing. We wish to work in association with the players and the South African Cricket Players Association where our assistance is needed in order to educate and train players about the unlawfulness and dangers of match-fixing – a sad reality which has tarnished the industry of betting. We look forward to working with the Cricket authorities to break down the stigma around the industry,” added Tannous.

Hilton Hasson, chief operating officer of WSB in the Western Cape, also shared his thoughts… “We are passionate about being involved with the development of the game at grassroots level and we endeavour to support the growth and development of schools and academies in the Western Cape, with the Western Cape Cricket team, in order for cricket as a game to prosper,” Hasson added.

Joking, Tannous adds: “Our Slogan has always been, Bet with the Best. Now we are also Batting with the Best.”

“As the Cape Cobras, we are excited to see WSB come on board as their level of energy, passion for the game and commitment to make the Cape Cobras a world-class brand is unparalleled,” said Nabeal Dien, chief executive officer of the Cape Cobras.

“What excites us is WSB’s level of support for the development of the game in order to lure masses to take up cricket as sport,” said Dien.

“We are excited about the synergy between WSB and the Cape Cobras. Generally, passionate sports fans invest much of their time on weekends to support the game, something WSB does equally well,” Dien remarked.

“The three years that we will be in the same stable with a commercial giant committed to cricket like WSB on board, might just see us re-establish ourselves as the leading franchise in the country. It had been the case for large periods since the dawn of the millennium until the end of the 2014/2015-season,” Dien added.

“WSB is not a company that associates themselves merely with the fully professional stars. No, they are a charitable sports betting company who want to see the game flourish at grassroots level in order to broaden its base. This is an exciting prospect,” said Beresford Williams, chairman of Western Cape Cricket.

“Broadening the footprint of a brand like the Cape Cobras with an exciting and vastly growing global name in the sport entertainment industry like WSB will undoubtedly be significantly beneficial to both parties,” said David Brooke, Brand Activations and Sponsorship Manager of the Cape Cobras.

“This is an exciting fit. We can assist WSB to become an even greater household name, while they are committed to strengthen the Cape Cobras as a match-winning franchise,” added Brooke.

Ultimately, fans of the franchise can look forward to a new era of Cape Cobras Cricket when the new partnership kicks in… They are invited to stay up to date with all the exciting new developments by following the Cape Cobras and World Sports Betting on Social Media today.
