Being a special race you seem to remember it better and there are all the replays being shown.

My most heartbreaking July was when I backed Yard Arm at 40/1 before he won the Derby. I remember seeing Dynasty being knocked about and wide and thought great until about 200 meters to go when he swept past Yard Arm.

Went to Durban with a whole group including The owners of Teal Mr Dan Botes . For weeks we planed it got a box at Greyville and off we went .

The 30 People in the Box backed Teal - I backed National Emblem :) very long ride home

I was also on NATIONAL EMBLEM , i was gutted , i loved that horse. He made it all up when winning the 2000 administrators at turffontein and i told Rhys van wyk just the other day that i rate that ride his best ever.

Started having a bet when I was 11 years old in 1987.

My only straight winning bet was in 2005 Dunford! I think it was tipped first across the line in Sporting Post.

The favourite broke down in that race.

This year Bling will provide me with my second winner.................

Also being a youngster:

Legislate

But a few hard luck stories after that.

2015 Legal Eagle should have won if not for the Dodgem cars that took place.

2016 just a few strides short

1958 Excise (I started young!)
1973 Yataghan
1987 Bush Telegraph
1993 Dancing Duel ( Biggest win ever)
1996 London News
2001 Trademark
2003 Dynasty
2008 Pocket Power ( ....and covered my stake on Dancer's Daughter)

Nothing much since then as I eventually smelled the coffee & started avoiding these big meetings.
