Day 2
Race 1 - Flamboyant 5/2
Already a winner. Beat trojan harbour in that race - trojan harbour has beaten a horse called Ancestry and Monks Hood(who I really fancy later) so that's good form. If she takes to the poly, will go close.
Race 2 - Damaraland 9/2
very impressive on debut - should appreciate the extra. Wide draw on the poly is negotiable.
Race 3 - Twice A Dancer 33/10
While not beating the strongest of fields LTO, he ran into a bit of trouble there but once he hit his stride, it was oh so easy. Doubt the step up in trip will be a problem - should go very close if handling Greyville.
Race 4 - Neptune's Rain 7/2
Neptune's Rain is going to go very close indeed. Cracker of a run behind Desert Rhythm from a hopeless draw. draw 9 isn't the best but this 1200m will suit more but I'm not lumping on because of the 2kg swing with Tsessebe and Spring Breeze. They are huge dangers so be wary here.
Race 5 - Folk Dance 7/1, Lady in Black 17/2
I really like 4 horses here but you can't back them all so I've chosen Folk Dance and Lady in Black. Folk Dance has done nothing wrong, I really liked her last time and she flattened Aurelia Cotta and she is still improving. She'll come in to draw 13 but obviously it will be a mission there but Anton's up so there is a chance. If she overcomes the draw, I make her a massive runner.
Lady in Black seems the usual improving type you want. Ultra impressive from draw 10 LTO so even though she's drawn a bit wide, I think she will give them a massive go.
Frederico's Dream and Meryl are the other two I had to unfortunately pass. Think they will go very close too
Race 6 - Monks Hood 8/1, Chantyman 20/1
I rate Monks Hood. Won in the style of a top, top horse on debut and while expecting him to win LTO, I wasn't too disappointed. He was lost as soon as he jumped. IMO he needed the experience badly. He gave Ancestry 2kgs and got beaten by just under a length. We saw how good Ancestry is on July day. On that(and Monks Hood must have improved since that), I make him a big runner. If he had a good draw, I'd make him a good bet. Still, I'll have a fair bet
Very impressive win LTO by Chantyman. should be better around the turn. Seems a very smart sort. 20/1 not gonna hurt.
Gold Cup - Hermoso Mundo 11/2, Krambambuli 6/1
Hermoso Mundo just seems to get better and better. Still don't think 96 is too high for him.
He's seen the track now so should be a big runner again.
We now know the July runners are running flat. All 4 that run in the July ran unplaced in the Champions Cup. But Krambambuli's mission has been this. 60 kgs is a mission but we saw in the July that champions can carry top weight and still win. Best horse in the race by some distance so look for him to be handy and attack early. Go Bernard
Race 8 - So Var 9/2
So Var is the value here. 9/2 worth a go. Beat Alfolk LTO who went on to smash his field subsequently. Big runner IMO and will give Al Mariachi something to think about
