Clairwood
Gosforth Park
Newmarket
Bloemfontein
Milnerton
Arlington
Vaal Sand
I have memories both good and bad of all these tracks and miss them all. Of all closed tracks Newmarket affected me most

Backed my first winner at Clairwood, Everton about 1983.
Witnessed some really, really good sorts winning exciting feature races over the years.
To this day, we still reminisce about those winning drunken Saturdays.
Also met Shrek at Clairwood.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Apart from the occasional draw bias in sprints, Clairwood was the best gallop in South Africa imo

My favorites were...and all closed down.
Milnerton,
Gosforthpark
clarewood
arlington
Greyville was a favorite until they absolutetly ruined this course,it was my number track and now i skip these meetings as i hate it.Only polly racing there which is so boring watching 62fm rating races. its like watching horses running along a gravel road.

My biggest ever win was at Clairwood. Towards the end of its days... will never forget. Cormack rode the 4/1 fav no10 The Flying Machine in a 20 horse field (he had not found a place on the previous 4 race favourites). Bankered for first. Field for 2nd and the biggest outsider - The Purreveyor ran 2nd.. banker 11 for 3rd (cant remember the exact name, but it was a single name, something like Caitlin). Field for 4th - 2nd biggest outsider ran 4th. Qtet paid over R105k.... Hence Clairwood was my fav track ever....

I loved Milnerton. My 1st visit to a racecourse.CLAIRWOOD was a good track for me punting wise and i loved Newmarket night racing back in the day.I must agree with you about greyville.Gold circle ruined that course and i hardly ever play there anymore.Too many f/m handicaps of a low merit rating and generally very poor animals racing there even during the champion season.Gone are the days when every horse wanted to win the july, now many top horses give the whole champion season a miss because of the state of the tracks in KZN.Sad,but true.
