St John Gray said it today......not 1 agent or jock has had a go. so therefore it must be true.

Something about Bling being the only decent Jock to have ridden Last Girl Standing
But who puts the jocks up?

The trainer said that there is huge gap between the top jockeys and the rest of the jockeys.

I guess st John Gray never saw Blings two brilliant rides on Captain and Master and Hyaku there certainly is a big gap between him and the likes of delpech Marcus and strydom and don't forget the classic ride on Majmu world class stuff.Tarry makes him look good overrated

My prediction Tarry puts Bling on the bench for a while to get some splinters in his butt- Hewitson will ride him to sleep

I been watching khumalo and imo he appears to be lacking confidence , gaps he would have taken a year ago , he is now hesitating and then getting baulked for a run , I also think tarry will be putting him on the bench soon

I am not sure what trainer Gray was on about. I do remember one international where a South African Jockey got sick or had to stand down, it may have been Marcus, and Khumalo was available to ride. Mr Gray refused to put Khumalo on and scratched his horse letting down the South African team. The reason given by the stipes was that no suitable jockey was suitable. Yeah.

Tarry had 215 winners for the season from 1410 runners.
Bling won 107 from 522 rides
The rest 108 came from 888, 40% more rides.
A strike rate of 20% from 10 rides a week, what more can be expected?

Firstly as I have said before, Anton has said that at least 97% is the horse and it has been reiterated on TV by top trainers like MDK and Dennis Drier after winners that without the horses with big ability they cannot win those big races. Secondly, where is my logic wrong or right? If a horse leaves me to a top trainer and over a 1000m it improves 10m, does that mean they are 1% better than me?

Re: It must be true
7 years 10 months ago - 7 years 10 months agocouldnt have been an international or any competition where riders are randomly drawn Jurgs, coz if it was then trainers have to accept whichever reserve jock is declared on his/her horse eg what would have happened if Bling was drawn to ride said horse at the initial draw??Jurgs wrote: I am not sure what trainer Gray was on about.
