Two horses every leg, R64, play maybe once a week haven't caught one for 18 months, punting much less though.
Last was full dividend at Kimberley, R21 500, for R64.
Didn't study for days, looked at formgrids in the morning and took 2 horses that had won over that distance that i thought could win, taking into account draw and most importantly at the Y, those that have dropped in the ratings and were suddenly carrying much less weight.
Sometimes the more you study the more expensive it gets.
It's gambling so at the end of the day its just luck catching the exotics.
Want to make a profit, single bets on value places.

Two pick 6 carry overs this week end. Worth having a go again.

The key to exotics is bet structure. My approach is:
PA: I take 3 approaches:
1. Two horses in each leg R128. This covers the failure of a hot favourite in any leg, but tends to lose if there is a very rough result in one or two legs.
2. A small perm taken multiple times- pays off when there are no real upsets and a smallish dividend.
3. A perm with bankers or short selections in a few legs and wide selections in the trickier races. If you get this right can pick up the big payouts.
Jackpot.
I take 2:
1. A smallish perm where I take a view in one or two legs and wide in the tricky legs.
2. A large perm (% to budget) where I calculate that I have at least a 50% chance of winning. Generally at least one or two legs the field ( in tricky handicap races). This also serves as a cover for my pick 6, when there are train smash results. Risk of getting back less than spent.
Pick 6: Depends on how I view the card. If I don't see any reasonably safe bankers, then I will not play, or else will take a view on a couple of legs but keep the spend low.
If I like a banker or two, or a few legs where just a couple of horses will suffice, then have a full go. A pick 6 with two bankers will often pay better than taking the double if both win.
Sometimes I will take two or three different perms for% with different banker legs in each perm.
If it's not too expensive, then sometimes a cover perm for % with no banker.
Banker legs are usually Maiden races with exposed form; WFA or conditions races; handicaps only where a horse is slung in because it's improving rapidly, or because it didn't get a penalty due to our odd rules.
Key is to find false favourites and play to beat them.
For example, for the Scottsville meeting on Sunday
Possible bankers : leg 1- #8; leg 2: #1; leg 5: #1
Cheap/ skeleton perm. 8x 1x 1,3,6,8,9 x 1,3,4,6,8,10,12 x 1 x 1,2,3. = R105
Cover perm 8,10,13 x 1,2,3 x 1,3,6,8,9 x 1,3,4,6,8,10,12 x 1,2,3,4,5,6 x 1,2,3 =R5670

Well done Lucky :woohoo: Not to be funny but that was one of the 'easier' P6s - even I got a share - with a small profit
Great post by PeterD - covers a lot imo ....
For any exotic I always try to take a small one with my fancies - you never know and your chances are better than the lotto. But ..... most time you would be wrong somewhere, so important to take cover - I often structure it so that I can overcome at least one 'boo-boo' (like Dalley yesterday), And then you need to make provision for smaller dividends.
That's my theory anyway - and not always that easy to implement in practice

Mentioned it before and as PeterD posted, structured perms are very important in my opinion. The other day, the morning Jackpot Quickmix paid R23 000 odd were the second favorite won the first leg, followed by the two favorites in the next two legs with the biggest outsider winning the first race at Kenilworth. Due to structuring of my perms I ended up catching the Jackpot.
I find the Quickmix Jackpots, The PA Quickmix and the Bipot express offer more value.

After the two scratchings (#2 in leg 2 and #3 in leg 5) the cover perm reduced to R3780 and returned a healthy R158k dividend!
I hope that you took a %.

Wow! Well done. I wish a had, but I played my own and crashed and burned as usual. I was out first leg. I didn't account for the possible improvement of the winner after only one race.
