Race4
I've been waiting for HUNTING OWL to run after its last run, on July the 2nd. The race showed that it would benefit running over 1200m, the trainer had it entered last week at turfontein over 1200m but was pulled out for some reason. I'm gutted to see it running at Vaal back over 1000m, only confidence I have is muzy is up on board.
I would have lumped on if over 1200m but not confident back over the 1000m. Anyone offer any thoughts on its last run?

The Bettingworld and Interbet percentages are becoming more and more ludicrous ante-post. Most races over 140% today.
They must have been knocked hard ante-post over the last year, but it is getting ridiculous.

R1 Tapenzee deservedly favorite imo, came from stone last to run 3rd lto and will enjoy the Vaal straight. Pachacuti is the one that interests me though. Being by Elusive fort should appreciate the step up in trip (tried once in yielding going and didn't appreciate. Has the draw and decent work rider at 14/1 and 2/1 a drum the value for me.

R2 Money for De Kocks horse must be respected, but from the draw it could be tricky. If pushed for another I'd include Our Biscuit to be followed by Of the Moon.

R3 A case can be made for many in this race. Most of the fancied runners drawn on the wrong side however so it could be tricky. All of Leon Erasmus runners need to be included, including Berdanine. A horse like lady justice has the draw and could also be anything so wide for the exotics for me.

R4 Marmook off top weight has a tough task at these weights against some proper handicappers. Besides Marmook, Roman evening (better than last run) is my selection at 14's and almost 2/1 a top 4 to be followed in by Cannes and chief Sioux. Idiot money on Daspoort. Conclusion wide again in this leg.

R5 Elusive Flyer at the weights on the run behind Wild Brier makes massive appeal. Holds the likes of Star path as well as Duzi moon pretty comfortably. At 7/2 a drum makes some appeal. Also think Jackman and Silver Peg will be thereabouts.

R6 My best win bet of the day is Tokyo drift around 4's rating slowly starting to drop gets the draw and what I feel ideal c/d. I was amazed how well he did over 1600 (thinking it would be on the edge of his range and now back over the 1400 I think will go very close. Only pa banker on the card for me. He will most likely be followed by sleepinseattle who is also back over a more suitable trip.

R7 Numbers 2,4,5,6,8 all make appeal and should suffice for exotic purposes, nothing I really fancy strongly in this race though, if pressed maybe Just a Gigolo.

R8 I was pretty upset to see Pearl Valley scratched. At 8's I thought was huge value. However have to look elsewhere. Main Baby warrants inclusion and all Done could be anything. The value for me however at almost 4's a top 4 and at 25/1 is Juba. Rating has come plummeting down and gets a plum draw. By no means a good thing but merely think the price currently is too big all things considered. Seems to be at best at the Vaal and is finally drawn on the correct side.

All the best on what looks Another tricky card.

Play well.

Agree mostly with Colin Dav - inside track so double figure draws down the straight usually a disadvantage .... but the track has not been in great nick so not sure how it will play out today....

R1: Workriders, I always like to include the usual suspects like Simela, Lukhele, Dadamasi and Mosia - hopefully enough to get through the BP

R2: Delpech rides for Mrs Slack, still seems a lot to ask to come for the one ride, so this one must be above average, tricky draw though, so I'll include Of the Moon and Our Biscuit in a cover BP

R3: Varsity Princess narrowly beaten on Saturday and looks the part - Successfilly goes without blinkers so could surprise while Prosperity on a line through Osculation looks well in

R4: Marmook has it all to do imo - Cannes overdue and is my first choice; Cold Front has his 4th run in August, but has chance on form so 18/1 looks big value along with Roman Evening and Chief Sioux.

R5: I think Starpath prefers this longer straight and is my first choice; Urgent Fury has 3 wins and a 2nd over this track and trip, must be the main danger; Elusive Flyer is well in but I think Starpath is improving and will beat him again

R6: Tokyo Drift likes this track and trip and has definite chance; Sleepinseattle can't be ignored and has a chance along with Crazy Vision, Streetwear and Lauren of Rochelle, who all will probably need some luck from outside draws

R7: El Bombero my first choice - likes this 1400 and has the plum draw; not a lot between EB an Captain Chips though with Apple Crumble and Just a Gigolo next best

R8: Very trappy race to close - got to go wide

Enjoy B)
