O Father

Hallowed is thy name

So hollow is my game

Bring us the day

When we can have our say

Our daily bread

Now in a shred

You are so forgiving

Yet all im doing is giving

Its time to sever

For ever and ever

I for one believe , have taken the site for granted - it's only in the absence of this site that we have come to realize how invaluable it is to us. These are the things I have missed, and now have to use a hodgepodge of sites to get the information i need.

(1) Complete horse record - since horses have major and minor form cycles - a horses form record from two years ago is of critical importance , when an older horse shows signs of form recovery.
(2) Horses running time and not the winners time only. Some other sites do that - but i haven't come to trust their conversions completely.
(3) Sire and Dam statistics - priceless
(4) Collateral I use to a lesser degree.

What I would like to see:

Horses average earnings per race / per season
Stipes comments per race , as in the CF
Somewhere on the site showing standard winning times per track/distance and class
Stable Change information for at least the first five runs with the new stable
Performance stats per surface type - (dirty/poly/turf) not critical - nice to have

-That's my wish list :)

I currently pay for on line subscription to CF and while I don't like their adjusting times for their version of track variant and weight, it does give me other information that I need.

With the above information I would switch to a paid subscription to FG anytime - if it was comparably priced.

In essence unless there are paid subscribers , it will always be very difficult to maintain this site - I mention the information above, not in a negative light - but to highlight the obstacles I have to completely embracing the site over CF.

I would really love to be able to dump everything else and use FG's solely - purely on the basis that the people behind it are obviously passionate about this sport.

I believe that making the offering attractive enough to get punters to rely exclusively on FG's without needing to reference other publications, as well- is the key strategy to be followed here - ultimately with paid subscribers there will be no need for assistance from the power's that be - who are quietly hard at work producing Gallop - every day that FG is down is a day too much.

A change in focus is required - at the moment there is too much focus lamenting the lack of assistance from authorities , rather than focussing on the obstacles to getting a sustainable base of paying subscribers - makke that the focus, and I would forsee bog things for the site.

The above is not intended to offend, just a sincere observation - wishing you success.

Online CF - R250 will buy yoou 3 months access, R50 on a weekly basis --- That's probably a benchmark that could work. While very noble to try and keep it free, this is obviously counteractive - since maintaining , protecting, and updating the site will cost money! Without that --- well we've seen what can happen.

If I started the site to make money and run it as a business then everything would have worked differently because we would have constructed it accordingly , the original concept was a world database of form to help uplift racing worldwide, international conferences were calling for ideas to uplift the sport, long story short formgrids serves racing participants across the board locally and promotes SA racing internationaly, somehow I'm still been persecuted personally for standing up to the powers that be with the Flaming Gun incident and of late the bullshit objection saga at Turffontein,, despite an almost total blackout in racing media regarding Formgrids we just get busier, I've done my bit for SA racing don't you think the industry big shots should be assisting me in bettering the racing experience, the current bodies were created to protect, build and safeguard racing but somehow they have turned things around and made racing their cash cow to safegaurd and build themselves, racing now serves Phumelela and other structures

I think they should, but they obviously won't ----If the site is to remain free, call for help -- I am sure there are many on this site can assist , something like an open source project sounds cool, I would like to be involved in a project like that.
