Texas Sky off a low mass

The second of our maiden follow ons come up in Texas Sky - ticks all the boxes on form, but in my book will be asking the horse for about three to four lengths improvement over that win. Baltic Amber has proven ability to win in this company - but at six I am not expecting a lot if any peak improvement. I am therefore stuck with Blackball. - A really top run over 1400m last time out, but was hanging - this wasn't too long ago and may have to work through some fatigue issues. Have no doubt the horse will stay 1600 and stay it well - if he has had ample recovery from that last run? If Blackball isn't fresh - the race becomes a quagmire - Pace might be suspect , and bring Sonar Active into the race. Yankeedoodledandy is hard to rate here off the polytrack -- usually that lack of information is enough to make him dangerous.

I am going to stick with Blackball, just have to trust the connections wouldn't be running the horse if he's worse for wear :( and i might be under-rating Texas Sky.

Really didn't expect to find Wild Wicket at such short odds, since before the market I penciled Carribean Day in here as the one to beat. At his peak would have been pacing strides with Blackball in the previous, so that leaves Wild Wicket having to find about 2 lengths, with the weight advantage.

My interested was piqued by Main Player , 100% in the money record at this course and distance, and that naturally led me to look at his stable mate Saint Marco - noticing the nice effort behind Master Of Mischief over 1400 and beating Roy's Magic at this course and trip before that -- it didn't escape my notice that it's Mr Puller's birthday today either.

Let's try Saint Marco from Caribbean day

Looks like wild wicket got it there - in hindsight should have given him more credit for his Greyville runs, than the Puller horses at scottsville, and weight seems to have impacted Carribean Day more than I anticipated. But it was a really great, and thrilling race --- I am sure Mr Puller got value for his money there :)

Here is a puzzle -- find a horse on the tote Paying R22 to win, and R14.50 a place, and check what it's coupled with.

Nobody should be playing anything but profit on the Lucky or the unlucky last.

I am going with Madame Excess to touch off her stable mate Sitia, Ticky Tin next best.

Of the 4 Maiden Follow ons today - Billy Silver the only one to succeed this far - Attic View the last of them, but I am looking to keep my 20% strike rate on that in tact ----so not expecting much from Attic View
