The press release quoting Basil and Gardner says they (P) are reconsidering racing under lights.
Both of them angle their opinions from the point of view of the owner/businessman. Compare this to the circus owner planning what time to put on the show for the clowns' convenience.
They always forget that the paying customer is the punter. Nowhere has anyone suggested that twilight racing (mainly between 4-7pm) may be a terrible time for loyal horse players.
They say: "Plenty of business people go for the so-called ‘late lunch’ and a twilight meeting will fit in well with their schedules.’’
But anyway, as long as the owners are happy after their long lunches...

An absolute 'Beat' of an idea Mac.
I've been saying about 'Twilight' but they say dark @8pm = a genius solution!
So 6.25, 7.00, 7.30 & 8.00 Distance - 8.30, 9.00, 9.30 Sprint under standside lights - well done Mac.
Jim.
(ps thanks for ystd - I appreciate it mate)

Imo Phumelela will shelve night racing at Turfontein, blaming objector(s) and the inflated costs.
Suits Phumelela perfectly, less racing, less costs, more money into their coffers.
