If anyone is under any misguided impression about who pays for the show, have a look at some charges owners are forced to pay. My opinion - there should be ZERO charges to encourage participation. Owners pay enough to get their animals to race.

One I did have a chuckle at was you have to pay to name your horse... not rename it, just its first name... FFS, thats pulling the piss...

These fees are a joke! This makes sense to now just race "Under the lap", as the registration costs are not feasible.

With these fees payable for mare and breeding licenses, no wonder breeders are getting out. As it is they cannot break even with covering fees, let alone keep.

Charging these ridiculous fees is not going to encourage any type of growth in an already tough industry, and is VERY off-putting for anyone new wanting to enter.

I would drop the cost syndicate fees - The more members you have the lower the fees... Thats the way you get more people involved

Why not drop all costs to owners associated to ownership? The NHA receive funding from the operators. The operators put on the show that provides earnings. The owners pay for and provide the participants in the show.

I renewed my colours in April - it was R1370 - any-one knows the justification for excessive increases?

Brian and Larry (the 2 owners reps)

please cut and paste the emails you have sent into the NHA prior and post this announcement so all your followers can see how disgusted you are with these increases.

Thanks in advance

i can only think that the retrenchment of nhra staff means that they have more money in their coffers so they need to charge more - Also the major stakes increases that owners have seen over the last 15 years means that owners are getting more bang for their buck so can afford more - I suppose we must also factor if the brilliant sales figures recently achieved (almost no unsold horses and no horses going for under 50K) so the game is so healthy and so oversubscribed that an increase is warranted
You know that things are tough when Racing's Police see R5 a photocopied page as a way to make money!!!
