I have Zanadu running in the Maiden 2000 @ 16:10. Here's what you need to know :

1.) I have been at pains to caution you that runs to date have been well short of her optimum distance and that little or nothing was expected of her.
2.) I have always believed (and her trainer agrees) that she needs at least 2000m to be effective.
3.) She gets 2000m for the first time on Saturday & we are optimistic that she can run into the money. We will certainly be trying to win it!
4.) The form of the race is a little confusing as a number of horses who have finished in front of her appeared to be at the limit of their range when beating her in previous outings. She, on the other hand, may well have up to another mile in reserve according to her pedigree.
5.) The going is of no threat to her if it turns out wet.

What you need to beware of :

1.) Although she is not as clueless as she was 2-3 runs back she does tend to be a little 'sleepy'; both in the pens & midway through a race.
2.) It would help a lot if they would go a gallop but I would be delusional if I believed that is going to happen at Kenilworth in a maiden plate.
3.) It would be a bonus if she found herself in front and able to use her big stride. Unfortunately her recent tardy starting may not give her that option.
4.) We may take our chances and keep her wide in the back straight to avoid what could turn out to be a stop start pace.

As much as I would like to 'tip' her outright I would rather recommend you seriously consider her as an inclusion in all bets.

Please be reminded that I do not punt my own horses.

Kenilworth has had a fair bit of rain this week- I watched a few horses gallop there this morning and the going is yielding to soft. Official pen reading 28.
Notably among those having a gallop was Gold Standard. Looking a picture and is one to follow this season.
Race 1: What a Summer had two good runs in April. If not needing this after a short break for vaccinations is the one to beat. True Words and Seventh Rule have the benefit of recent runs and will challenge. A couple of well bred first timers, but will have to be useful to beat these three. Improvers with a run under the belt to be considered are Mahir, Head of the Pack and Sir Capers.
Race 2: Aldo could get a quick double with Johnny Black who looks hard to beat here. Sabbatical looks the main danger after a decent debut when a bit slow away.
Race 3: Moonlight Dancer looks great ew value at 12/1 if she can repeat her improved last effort. Dear Moinette should improve on decent debut and is a danger. Ice Queen has been priced up favourite but moderate 4 runs so not for me. Runaway Rebel is moderate, but consistently in the money. A couple of interesting first timers.
Race 4: Rommel has good form and a fair draw, and is the one to beat although the price is a bit skinny. Red Eight has draw 1 and fair Durban form, but may need this run. Black Belt has a tough draw but his penultimate run was good and must have a chance. He's Priceless found 1000m too sharp last time and should enjoy this trip and should be included in pick 6.
We have Lake Washington from a wide draw. He needs to learn to settle but not expecting much today.
Race 5: Leadman could give Anton Marcus his double, but will be made to work by Rokatenda and Silver de Lange. Silver Streamer goes the trip for the first time, but has a lot of stamina on the dam side and is a factor if staying the trip. (1900m ). Mister Colin could earn a cheque.
Race 6: Scorpion Queen is not the most consistent but if repeating her last good run can win. March Affair is an up and coming stayer, but always tough over this trip for a 3yo against elders at this time of year. Not the strongest of fields, and Garrick's filly Zanadu should earn her first cheque today- the change to 1900m shouldn't make much difference.
Race 7: A strong field for this class. Public Prosecutor and Ma Forte are useful improving 3yos. Sassy Lady has solid form and must be respected. Namibia has failed to build on her good debut but has upset potential. Ahoy me Matey is down in class and is another that would not be a surprise winner. My pick is Public Prosecutor
Race 8: Open race. Chill Baby Chill deserves to be favourite on her last run but I might go the field here.
Race 9: A tricky end to the day. Do it Again has been given a harsh rating, but could improve enough to win again. River Cam comes in to draw 8, and is a runner. King of Aces drops in trip but gets the blinkers and has draw 1- Fourie was on him when he won his maiden and rides again today. Liquid Dynamite also competitive if repeating last. Best Nut Ever has a tricky draw, but ran well this trip in the winter Guineas and a repeat of that run would go close.
We have Desert Wisdom running- this is too short and he has a wide draw and will need this after his vaccinations. Not expecting much today.

Johnny Black looked good going down to post.
