Pirates, please educate me why would steel shoe make such a big difference to a performance /fitness in relation to no shoes and or shoes? is there an indicator. similar to a tongue tie or blinkers..

Adams im trying to figure out some of your selections,u say u don't get involved but u do,Orapa,on gallops he dont have sprint form(mostly1400,1600) its a PP race so he dropped in rating from 89-74 against Africa Rising 98 in a grad plate race which i think was way stronger but the younger play the night & and snowboarding has higher ratings with low weights and more scope for improvement in my books. so i make them the 2 to beat but wont be surprise if Orapa upsets, yet u give joey piper?

Hi Thanks for the input - My selections are not based on what is obvious in the formbook, since that rarely delivers value. As stated many times before , it is not smart to attempt to back a winner in each race, I merely offer selections for each race as a guideline, but will not be backing each race. I qualified on the moon by forcing one of the angles, so would think long and hard before trying to structure a bet around that one. The Joey piper race is so competitive that wagering there would be gambling, I hardly find any value to bet on at this meeting. Boatswain is probably the closest I will get to having a bet, and Maybe Tapanzee. Street Flyer, and or snow in seattle.

Very rarely will you make money from the expected taking place in racing. It's usually the unexpected that makes money - but to wager on the unexpected you need longer odds, and will have a lower strike rate.

Street Flyer and Snow in Seattle could be blown away by classy looking individuals that hint at improvemnent, but the money lies in them falling short.

Boatswain is a classy individual, the first timers sound classy -- the strike rate for firsttimers is lower than betting the unnamed favourite, and while firsttimers can normally be good enough to win, the odds against them increase according to the quality of the individual they take on --- so yes, Boatswain coould get beaten, even Vanuata is a danger --- but mathematically, the odds lie with boatswain -- keeping in mind that there is no certainty in racing, and you have to be prepared to lose sometimes.
