FAIRVIEW RACECOURSE - RACE 1 - 14.07.2017
S B KOTZEN (Trainer) - Rule 72.1.45 - For presenting a horse which was not the
correct and carded horse, TRINI'S ORATORIA. The Inquiry Review
Board confirmed a penalty of a fine of R10 000, of which R5 000 is
suspended for a period of 12 months. Fined R5 000.

There is absolutely no mention of the investigations into this matter. Was the ringer punted? Did the trainer offer an acceptable explanation. If the wrong horse was sent how did it happen? etc etc

The NHA are quick to punish soft targets yet are slow to act in areas where they are not so comfortable, especially when it concerns the operators and themselves. We still await an official finding into the Vaal Classic track abandonment this is now months down the line.

We still await an official statement into the conduct of Jonathan Witts-Hewitson in the James Goodman matter.

There are many more examples

I was on track at Fairview was keen on having bet on the even money fav but there was strong talk that Oratoria was the business and punted heavily as the fav drifted

I made the effort to go and have a look at "the good thing" but it never made it to the ring??

The time i went back up stairs missed the punt, the original fav won at evens

The NHRA reported that an inquiry was held 25th July.
The inquiry accepted that this was an unfortunate mistake in that two horses were sent to SK yard, and their identifying stickers were switched around when transported. The trainer was clearly at fault for not checking the horses against their passports on their arrival at her yard. She trained them thereafter believing each to be the other. There was no evidence of any intent to exploit the switch in identities for gain. Fortunately the horse identifier at Fairview picked it up before the race when doing the routine check of identities using the microchip reader.
