You Gotta Love Phumelela!
7 years 8 months ago - 7 years 8 months ago
This afternoon my attention was caught by something interesting on the Turffontein card whilst waiting for UK racing to commence.
I needed a Computaform to investigate further so went into the online site to order a short subscription.
More the fool me!
My credit card payment was accepted flawlessly but no access to the subscription was granted.
I phoned the 'customer care' line (sic). The recording told me how busy they were & after an impolite wait simply cut me off.
After a couple of additional tries I was eventually connected. The 'agent' needed a good couple of stabs to get my details correct ( tick tock) & undertook to get back to me 'within 20 minutes'.
I'm still waiting although the race I was seeking information on has long ago come & gone. (No refunds under any circumstances!). I assume that if they eventually get me connected by, say, Saturday my 1 week subscription will still expire after 7 days ( No refunds under any circumstances!).
I suspect this crew learned their business at the 'Old Mutual School Of Excellence' as they are the only other institution that I regularly have to deal with which matches this organisation for this level of non service.
Oh, well. Just another R50 squandered on the racing industry.

This matter had an interesting conclusion :
Despite the payment registering on the Computaform website as a valid payment it was refused by the bank.
As my credit card is quite substantially in CREDIT I find this somewhat strange .....but maybe the banks don't like Phumelela?
But the customer service lady suddenly became an expert on financial transactions & told me I needed an OTP (One time pin) for the transaction. Huh? I use the card repeatedly almost every day and no pin is ever required or requested by any merchant.
No matter - I actually 'saved' myself R50!

I have now been credited with a free 1 week subscription.
Credit where credit is due. At the very least it shows some effort.
