Where to punt in PTA
7 years 8 months ago
Just recently moved to Centurion from Jhb south. Been trying to find a place to punt. Marshall's near me here odds are extremely skinny. Some of the other places look like jhb gen waiting rooms.
Nothing here like Meyersdal sports, GG's in germiston or Elsburg tote?

In my days the best place to do anything in Pretoria was to do it in JHB.
with 2 exceptions
1: Jaquelines
2: Loftus

Spent the day at Turffontein yesterday, smallish crowd, but experienced good service when placing bets at the tote or Betting World...only disappointment was the service by the catering staff on the outside tables on the verandas above the public seating...they didn't seem that interested...is it me but I find the black South Africans lazy compared to the black Malawians, Zimbos and other foreigners that are working in SA. Not being racist..just very honest.

Thanks for that insight Rhodieace, I find that all South Africans are just people.
I hope you submit your honest scientific findings to our Emigration officials, maybe we can get "black people" from other countries that are better workers and they can call patrons "Master"
Just being honest....

Bob, understand that as the administrator you are also repsonsible in essence for the content of posters.
The very idea that someone on a racing sight gives "just an honest" opinion comparing the work ethic of "black South Africans" quite simply leaves me cold.
If this person cannot understand that work ethic has nothing to do with race and believes that they can spew their vile observations on this site can only be because they believe they are on a site that shares his opinion.
I for one will not be a part of that and further hope that Rhodieace publishes his honest findings.

I remember the old days at tatts in Church Street. I was an underage lighty at the time.
They were excellent times to be involved in the racing game. Who remembers Miles Avnitt, Mark Harris, Walter Wiegand, Tom Verhave, Hendrik Potgieter etc etc. What about Plonkie, the Chairman/Manager who used to give the bookies an extra 10 mins after the race had been run in order for them to "adjust their sheets" before he collected them.
I really miss those days.
For the record those kind of bookies had balls & never limited or banned me. Even when, sometimes, I couldnt pay, they gave me time & were generally good about letting me reduce my accounts slowly.
Bookies today are a different breed & make me sick. They are certainly not a credit to their profession.
Back to Pretoria Tatts, it was a fantastic, vibrant & very funny place. Pity there is no tatts anywhere in the country with that same kind of service, atmosphere etc.

Just to clarify, I have been banned by 4 of today's bookmakers for backing the odd winner, not for not paying them.LOL

A post for the shredder. Wow unreal to bring the colour of a person into it. Some things in SA will never change
