Rain stopped play in Durban, no better time to start a new thread.

I'm in the same camp as Pilot Office regards Silver De Lange at 4/1. Looking at the betting, the favourite Alaadel (9/2 into 7/2) is his first run in the province. His two wins have been achieved over 1400m back in December 2016. His only try at 2000m, was in the Derby Trial, and it didn't go too well albeit he finished 4th, 7.80 lengths behind the winner. Doesn't suggest he will see out the distance tomorrow conceding weight all-round - can win without my money, not for me.

Second favourite, Friendly Tibbs (3/1 out to 7/2), 7 year old who is down in class, but not the most reliable.

Gimme One Night (33/10 out to 7/2), admittedly not the most alarming drift but he is taking on stronger. Was penalised for running second in MR 71 company, not sure he is up to this off his current rating.

Tiger Tops (9/2 out to 6/1), i make the danger to Silver De Lange. Was poorly ridden last time, down in class. Problem is, like Friendly Tibbs, he also looks a touch unreliable but if putting in a good effort, not without a chance.

Silver De Lange (33/10 out to 4/1), the obvious improver and who should get the extra 100m. This horse may well be better than rated, and not taking on any super stars here.

I have had a punt on Silver De Lange, and played a yankee :-

R1) Valentine's Girl X (R2) November Storm X (R4) Intothelimelight X (R5) Silver De Lange.

Must say the winner of R2 will be one to keep an eye on going forward. I'm not a huge fan of November foals, but November Storm did well on debut over a distance well short of what he is looking for, i expect massive improvement from this one.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Nabisco in the last. last year course and distance finished strongly to finish 1.5lengths behind edict of nantes. dropped to a 55 merit rating. 3rd run after a rest and should be ready to run a cracker. 25/1. and 4/1 4 places is a very generous price and im sure this should shorten to half this price.Extreme value as this is a low rated race and nothing speacial in the race and gets a apprentice allowance. win lose or draw its worth eachway at this price.

Lovely spring day here- expect the south- Easter to pick up this afternoon.
While all eyes on Vaal, I think a few easier opportunities here.
Race1: Valentines Girl is a short price but very hard to beat after an excellent debut despite wide draw.
Race 2: Off Broadway comes back from a break and reverts to 1200m. Wide draw, but must be respected. November Storm and Johnny Black also wide draws but improving 3yos and will be in the mix. Red Eight likes to run handy and this course and trip may be what he needs to crack his maiden. Herodus has shown flashes of form and gets the plum draw, but stable jockey rides JB.
Race 3: William the Brave is the best horse in the race but has been off the track for nearly a year and likely to need this run. Bernie is consistent and will be in first three. Love Happens and Redial both good debuts and will enjoy the extra distance. These should be enough for pick 6. Narrow preference for Bernie today on fitness and experience.
Race 4: Intothelimelight very hard to oppose and a banker for exotics. Ingabangabonga will enjoy the step up in trip. Raise Your Hand, Dragonair and maybe Silver Streamer to make up the quartet.
Race 5: Tricky race. Silver de Lange my first choice as he has the most scope fo improvement.
Race 6: Another difficult handicap. Kotzen has a strong hand with the improving Heart of a Legend and the disappointing Shizam. If the latter gets rolling early she could surprise off a low weight and plum draw.
Race 7: True Words won well last time and could go in again. Very little between Greenflashsunset and Jay Rock. Benfontein is progressive but comes back from a break. Bobby Dazzler has ability but is a difficult customer to ride. Victorious Captain and Cape Quarter also must be considered. True Words a narrow first choice.
Race 8: Pergola and Liquid Dynamite look the best of the older horses. League Game won well last time- if Bernie confirms the form he may be the right one despite wide draw. The V Marshall pair must be respected- Nordic Chant the stable elect but little between the two.
Nabisco has been disappointing but now slung in at the weights if regaining form.
