when i started punting a top trainer told me "in the beginning stick to maidens and follow form horses, only fools rush in". if you stick to maidens while learning the game and follow form you'll be ok. if you have the energy and patience learn how to use speed figures and produce your own.

Hi Reckless
as a newcomer to racing I suggest you get hold of a book written by Charl Pretorious
called: the ten habits of highly effective horseplayers.
not sure where you can buy it nowadays (bought it a exclusive books some years ago)
this book covers all you need to know about racing an betting.

I love maiden races. Horse Chestnut too once won a maiden race.

If I could start again I would only bet Penny yankees and never take a bet over R20

It’s the only way to gamble imo, lesss stress and no risk and the enjoyment is still there

You will get richer not gambling thsn you ever will gambling

I have studied thousand of hours and used all the different publications trying to find the winning formula for winning consistently.I had some good winning streaks and some long losing streaks.lol.However something has always bugged me,no matter how hard you study there are to many variables in horse racing so on the day anything can go wrong and the most important thing is that we would never know the trainers INTENTION for that race ie could be prepping the horse for a bigger stake in a months time but to you the studier its the right horse for that race.
